An estimated 22 million people in the U.S. are about to see their health insurance premiums soar by, in some cases, thousands of dollars per month, as billions in funding for the Affordable Care Act expires on Dec. 31. The expiring funds, costing about $35 billion per year, were first passed during the pandemic to subsidize insurance payments, capping premiums for a “benchmark” ACA, or “Obamacare,” plan to 8.5% of income.
So glad we gave him everything he wanted so now we have no leverage at all. Another masterful play by Chuck Schumer.
he probably knows the other 13 dems that wasnt chosen to end the shutdown would be harmed by thier seats, thats why he went with the 8 that either is retiring or not up for election.
Why do people keep assuming Chuck Schumer is some master tactician when literally all we’ve ever seen from him is failure after failure?
Because the failure is always deliberate.
Because bumbling into failures is the tactic he chooses to achieve the goals of his donors, not his constituents but the people who have given him the money to get into his position of power in the first place specifically so that he can pretend to be on board with improving the country only to torpedo anything that looks like it might improve people’s lives if that improvement means his donors missing out on even $1
THIS was another failure, so it’s in form for him.
he does hold the key to thier delegates and funding, hes pretty much like how mitch uses his position to force the gop to his will.
Except Mitch McConnel won. His political project was incredibly successful. Schumer has just failed over and over, losing battles and rights and leading the party to their lowest favorability in decades.
its clear schumer is basically just aipac stooge, and a gop-lite, he would be gop if the right wing was more tolerable. he displays too many qualities of the right.
