I feel like I’m crazy as this was one of the people exposed as a Russian plant when Twitter briefly showed where you posted from. Why does anyone care what a foreign agent thinks about their country? The account is designed to destabilize the country and sow confusion. Bravo, it worked, and here everyone is still falling for the BS?! WTF!

Because the account is probably trying get people to forget it’s a Russian plant by seeming remorseful and ‘real’. In a few months I’m sure it’ll be wielding it’s influence over the thousands of followers in a nice Russian propaganda way

Or because Russia’s intelligence is already on the next step of its plan, where it destabilizes Trump in favor of another fascist, inducing even more chaos as internal fights erupt in the GOP’s ranks.

Says a lot about America that she couldn’t just say “she was wrong”. She first had to attack the people she doesn’t agree with. This image encapsulates just how broken the US is.

I’m not commenting on that aspect of the letter. I agree that it is very non apologetic in the beginning. But it is indeed an apology and regardless of whether or not they mean it, that’s just not what this subreddit is supposed to be about.

Pathological malignant narcissist’s first attempt at apologizing for anything serious in their life.

    Rating: 0.5/10 (F–)

Only not 0.0 because it is at least an attempt, technically, they did at least identify some things that they did… but they don’t actually directly express regret for them… though you could maybe, possibly, conclude that they mean to imply this.

Every single other element of this is abysmal and indicates insincerity, that its more of a panic response than anything meaningful.

They have not done any self reflection.

They have no understanding of what fundamentally caused them to make the error.

They don’t care at all to have an actual dialogue as they are just asserting what the other person thinks, and attack the person they’re apologizing to in the ‘apology’.

Its obvious that they are furious that they’ve got no other choice than to admit some kind of being wrong if they want to be taken any kind of seriously about anything, ever again.

… and they obviously do not present a plan for their own self reflection / self improvement going forward.

It is absurd and laughable that they think this consitutes their eyes being open.

And that’s all assuming this is any kind of genuine or from an actual real person.

This is an admission of guilt, like a child getting caught with their hand in the cookie jar, not an actual apology though, as they’re barely cognizant of what they’ve done, what needs making amends, how that would be done.

Laughably pathetic, when considered as if it was a genuine apology.

The real Trump Derangement Syndrome is this, is willingly joining a hateful death cult, and then doing hateful death cult things, with glee, and justifying them through vicious lies and nearly a decade of abdicating the responsibility every adult has to think critically for themselves.

We have to try to forgive, or at least be civil with, the former trump acolytes otherwise we could push them further into trump’s hate hole. Regardless of politics we as humans often make stupid mistakes from time to time.

They don’t really admit wrongdoing. They claim Trump deceived them, I assume about being a sexual predator and a pedophile.

They stand by their position on his policies, which are arguably worse for America than his depravity. Explicitly they mention the misogyny (abortion bans) and disregard for human lives (deregulation of guns), but claim to disagree on everything else - which must include climate and environmental protection, poverty and wealth, foreign policy etc.

I was trying to convey this to my mom several years ago as she was trying to wrap her mind around trans people and how some use the pronouns they/them. She couldn’t believe me when I said it was already a grammatical convention to use they as a singular pronoun. I remember saying “imagine finding someone left a black coat in a movie theatre and you find it. You could say when you leave it at the lost and found, ‘I hope they come back to get their coat’, as you don’t know the gender of who it belongs to.” I was very confident that would get through to her. Nope, she insisted she would say “I hope he or she gets their coat!”

Some people just dig their heels in when they’re wrong.

In fairness, “they” is usually used when either the gender is unknown or the person is known to use they/them pronouns. I think in this case, vga is objecting to using it when the gender is known. It is a little unusual but “they” is still gramatically acceptable to use for a man or woman when the gender is known

We should not be penalising people for admitting when they’re wrong, otherwise they’ll never admit they’re wrong and stick even more to their harmful beliefs. Good for them for having the courage to change their mind about something so fundamental. Hopefully now they know Trump is bad they can also consider/have conversations about some other things too.

      We’re well past that point.

Nazis don’t get to apologize. They get tried at Nuremberg.

The fact that this woman still refuses to renounce any of her values inspite of the current direction of her party is very telling. All she probably cares about is that her family’s business is currently failing. So now it affects her. Don’t fall for the narcissist victim routine, she only cares that her face finally got eaten.

There were about 8 million NSDAP members at its peak. About 200 were tried at Nuremberg. Tens of thousands of other party members were simply fined or lost their bureaucratic jobs.

If the the beliefs of universal social safety nets and workers rights and taxing billionaires is “abhorent to every value she has”, then she is still a major piece of shit. Her realising, way too late, that Trump is a piece of shit doesn’t excuse or undo any of her other vitriolic hatred, which she openly states that she still believes in. Nor should it

“when I’m wrong, I say I’m wrong” … This is a statement of intent. That you will say you’re wrong, when you are wrong…

This is not an admission of fault. This is not saying “I am wrong”.

Way to dance around saying the one thing that actually matters in this whole damn thing… And… You’re sorry? I don’t want your sorry. What will your sorry do for everyone fucked over by the rapist convict you put in the Whitehouse?

Fuck you. I hope the leopards eat the rest of you too.
