The world does not need another US-made catastrophe. Venezuela deserves sovereignty. Latin America deserves peace. And people in the United States deserve a future not stolen by endless war.

This is an oil coup. It needs to be treated as an act of war. donald needs to be held accountable for this.

He’s not denying it. He’s outright admitting it, and basically telling the world there’s not a god damn thing they can do about it. What country is willing to stand up to US if it’s own people aren’t willing to?

I feel like we do have people standing up to him and his atrocious acts though. It’s the billionaires that control the media and narrative and it’s the politicians. This is what the rich want you to keep thinking and this is what Trump wants to keep doing. Distract. This is propaganda and it’s working. People are becoming numb to the stupid actions he’s taking because of how it’s being reported and how politicians are reacting to it.

If you never knew what real propaganda looks like, this is it. It’s hidden It’s silent. It’s hitler. People think that the events that caused ww2 happened overnight, but it took years until people became numb to certain acts of hatred that started small and eventually morphed into something bigger and bigger. History is repeating itself.

The type of oil they have is the one that the US refineries that were built before the fracking boom need.

And not to be the one defending oil companies, but when Trump says ‘they stole our oil’, he means they seized billions of dollars in American-owned assets without providing the “just compensation” required by international law. International tribunals agreed and ordered retribution but then Maduro just refused to pay.

There’s no limit to the greed of the oil companies who legally (and sometimes illegally) bribe almost all of Congress, The White House, and probably two thirds or more of SCOTUS.

Unlike the government, which is both a major customer and a subsidiary of the biggest fossil fuel companies in the world, corporations can get their oil from anywhere in the world that’ll let them.

Until this coup, Venezuela was the biggest fossil fuel producer that wasn’t letting the (mostly US-based) mega-conglomerates operate with near-total impunity inside of their borders, opting instead for the fossil fuels and profits therefrom to be the property of the Venezuelan people.

I wouldn’t say „the Venezuelan people“. Much rather „some Venezuelan oligarchs“. The rest however remains true.

Oh, but haven’t you considered the shareholders of the refineries previously set up to refine the type of oil found in Venezuelan reserves?

The poor share holders want to make more money.

Always thought that was bullshit. Armies from top to bottom are trained bootlickers, they’re chosen based on ability to follow orders not laws or morals. That only comes down to exceptional cases.

Also, remember, these are people that Nazi’s took lessons from. Calling out to their morals was a farcical attempt to please their base, nothing more.

If you want to hurt Trump, aim at his base.

Stop taking the moral high ground; they don’t care. Focus on Trump starting wars when average Americans can’t afford to go to the doctor

The world needs to gear up for war. As a Canadian, I don’t want Canada to have to go to war, but maybe it’s better we fight to protect other countries now before Trump invades us

After that we just move on and nothing happens.

I’ve always disliked comments like this. Like, you’re not wrong, but you’re also just kinda delivering defeatism wrapped in a cloak of “telling it like it is.” If you’re gonna say something like this, at least include a call to action for change or something. Even if it feels meaningless, it’s gotta be more meaningful than just saying “yep, we’re fucked.”

I agree. I’m as pessimistic as they come but I’m starting to realize that futile resistance beats defeatism and resignation. Don’t just fight in spite of the fact that you’re likely to lose, fight because you know you’re likely lose. I mean, if I’m going to lose, I might as well go down fighting.

MAGA People on nextdoor LOVE THIS. They love having a dictator in charge of the US who is immune to the law and can do whatever he wants.

He could kidnap all MAGA children and send them to work the mines in Venezuela and MAGA parents would be happy. It would be a “team building exercise” or some other bullshit.
