I don’t understand how this is considered a good response. They’re just words, the terrorists are still there, and will murder again.
The correct response by the local or state governments would be to arrest them, and put them on trial, together with the federal government for having sent them (and the state government for allowing it in the case of the city).
but is that all he does? just words, shouldnt he make them leave or arrest them like the LEO should. at that point hes only virtue signalling if he doe nothing about it.
Note that ICE presence in Minneapolis alone was/is about three times the entire Minneapolis police department. They are tremendously outnumbered. Which is just insane.
From what I’ve read it’s apparently very complex and not straightforward for a state to arrest or criminally charge a federal officer for something that occurs on duty because of previous precedent from supreme court cases.
Tbh I have no doubt the state AG and many lawyers are trying to figure out what can be done and ideally won’t lead to some sort of civil war because tbh everything with Trump is on the table and we have no clue what the future holds.
The mayor’s response was perfect. “ICE, get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”
That should be the response everywhere. Get the fuck out, you’re not welcome here.

Anything short of that is collaboration.

There are videos of police officers kicking her memorial later so cops side with ice too.
I couldn’t make it out myself, but someone said those were DHS, not MPD

At this point, any politician who doesn’t echo that exact sentiment is simply and truly complicit.
