This trust the process stuff is just copium. The fact george bush wasn’t prosecuted for WMDs and Reagan wasn’t prosecuted for Iran Contra are the original sins here. Unless Bush gets prosecuted we can’t even begin to fix the problems trump created because they are all downstream.
You’re trying to dam a river at the delta where it meets the sea. Threaten to prosecute bush though and you pave the path for prosecuting trump and fox news and all these billionaire media owners.
That’s basically why the Supreme Court ruled that Presidents have some degree of immunity from prosecution. It wasn’t just about shielding Trump from prosecution…it was also about retroactively pardoning all the previous presidents for their own individual “crimes”, while in office.
The precedent was set after Nixon. Their ruling just legitimized all that previous lack of accountability.
But, in Trump’s case…not a lot that he does is in the service of the country. Most of it, is entirely self-serving…and that can be prosecuted.
