It’s a two-way bike lane, which means there’s only this one path on this side of the road for bike traffic in both directions. One lane is blocked completely by parked cars. Let me know if you need any more help analyzing the issue.

I drive on more narrow paths every day. If you want to have problems, you find them. I live happier by not making up problems.

I too would be happier if I refused to see problems that exist in the real world. Ignorance is bliss.

The problem exists there in the space, independent of whether you personally experience it as a problem. The system was designed a certain way, and it’s not functioning as intended. Most cyclists are probably fine to cycle around it, but there’s still a problem there, and it would be wise to address it.

It’s not just about how much space there is. Cycle lanes are important because having a clear delineation of what spaces are intended for what road users is a key part of how cycle lanes improve safety and efficiency in cities. As it stands, the cycle lane is not functioning as it should.

Potholes in roads aren’t a huge deal for most drivers — it’s usually possible to navigate around them without much effort, and even if you do hit them, it usually doesn’t cause any damage. We still strive to fill in potholes though, because we acknowledge that a road isn’t meant to have them, and that keeping roads in good repair is a crucial part of making the system work.

I will take a chunk out of your bedroom and set up a hobo encampment.

You don’t like it? Why? You can still reach your bed? Stop making up problems.

Drive? Do you mean ride, as a bicycle?

If you mean drive a vehicle, I don’t think that’s true. The remaining width of the lane that’s being encroached appears to be not much longer the length of that car’s tire.

      Breathtakingly illustrative comment right here.

About the only reason it isn’t getting removed as trolling, TBH.

Do you think that there might be more cyclists around if the existing infrastructure was better maintained and protected?

This isn’t ruining my day, but it seems like a clear example of a problem. And you’re actually being weird by arguing over this “useless shit” while claiming you’re not. I don’t believe your way of living is better if you choose to get annoyed by people being annoyed at something, rather than being annoyed by the thing itself. That cancels out.

Totally agree – that’s why I park my truck in the right lane of the three-lane highway near my office. The traffic still has two lanes to use, it’s plenty of space.

My neighbors in my apartment block have been complaining that I’ve filled one of the elevators with storage crates, too, but there’s another elevator and a set of stairs, so I don’t know what’s got them so upset.
