I don’t watch Hasan but I’m smart enough to see when whingy, bad-faith hate-watchers are attempting to blow something dumb out of proportion to get naive people to go “ANIMAL ABUSE” as a huge distraction from actual issues.
As long as our population keeps getting distracted and bickering about bullshit like this, we will never unify and have community again.
I genuinely couldn’t untangle this one. I don’t like him because he comes across as a grifter who just says things I mostly agree with, but I also know the fascists hate him and would invent shit to get him cancelled.
I don’t like his content but I really respect his position in the ecosystem, which is essentially an off-ramp for otherwise right wing podcast bros who only respond to dunking-as-rhetoric Andrew Tate types
The fascists hate him because he encourages activism, whether or not he’s doing it for money, it does work and gets people charged up, and I’m fine with that. He’s been out in the street getting in trouble and that’s far more than most people are doing. if it sets an example for a horde of broccoli-haired boys to take up signs and march, I don’t care if he has a huge house to go home to.
Please feel free to enlighten me on how forcing animals into shelters against their will and not giving them the attention and time they would get in their natural habitat is any different than jails or prisons for humans.
I’m not even anti-pet ownership, but I’ve come to terms that owning a pet is unethical 99% of the time.
Cats domesticated themselves, the ones living around people found that they had a higher chance of survival if they stayed around humans. Humans kept them around as they hunted pests and this lead to them breeding more and so we have modern domesticated cats.
They live longer, they have shelter when they want it, they roam outside when they want to. They get attention and affection from humans and play or fight with other cats.
Dont know if i would call that abuse
(From google)
Around 10,000 years ago in the Fertile Crescent, wild cats (specifically Felis silvestris lybica) were drawn to early human farming settlements to hunt the rodents that infested grain stores. Cats with a more tolerant, less fearful temperament thrived, creating a natural, self-driven selection process.
I don’t disagree that there is mutual benefit from pet ownership, but I believe animals should be left to their own free will.
I love cats, but they would roam outside if we let them. Cats then decimate bird, small mammal, and pollinator populations.
I don’t judge those that own pets in a negative light at all BTW. In fact when I visit friends I typically devote a majority of my time loving on their pets. I just think it’s important to remember that we’re forcing these animals into situations they didn’t advocate for. At least to me it is unethical.
I love cats, but they would roam outside if we let them. Cats then decimate bird, small mammal, and pollinator populations.
And cats already exist, in huge numbers. So the alternative is to euthanize them or keep them as indoor pets (obviously neutered / spayed just in case, and so they don’t piss everywhere lol).
So… pet ownership seems like the best choice of the 3 options to me. It may not be the cat’s preferred option in all circumstances, but in a net-good sense, it’s the best choice.
Oh whatever, don’t even play that proto-vegan card. If you actually cared about animal welfare, or just pets I guess, then doing even the barest amount of research into Kaya would show it’s BS.
Your misplaced outrage is nothing but virtue signaling.
Oh whatever, don’t even play that proto-vegan card
I genuinely have no idea what that’s supposed to mean.
If you actually cared about animal welfare, or just pets I guess, then doing even the barest amount of research into Kaya would show it’s BS.
I watched the video of the abuse happening on stream. I listened to the meritless counterpoints of Hasan’s defenders. I don’t know what other “research” you think I should do.
Your misplaced outrage is nothing but virtue signaling.
Again with the nonsense accusations. Are you incapable of having this conversation without making shit up about the people you’re arguing with? I’m not going to tolerate it. Good day.
I watched the video of the abuse happening on stream.
You watched a clip of Hasan’s dog catching her dewclaw on the edge of her bed and yelping, and Hasan being kind of rude about it because he was in the middle of a heated rant. You only think he used a shock collar because a bunch of drama slop-tubers made ‘analysis’ videos claiming to prove that he did with about the same rigor as right-wing ‘transvestigators’ claiming every school shooter is trans.
You watched a clip of Hasan’s dog catching her dewclaw on the edge of her bed and yelping, and Hasan being kind of rude about it because he was in the middle of a heated rant.
He started yelling at her when she started moving, not when she yelped. He keeps her as fucking set dressing behind him and yells when she moves. Whether he actually shocked her or not is secondary to that behavior.
No no, we should all scream and argue about Hasan’s stupid fucking dog while people are getting executed in the street.
This shit is why I don’t identify with leftism in America anymore. The complete, willful discarding of power and political capital for the sake of performatism and identity politics. I will still fight fascism to my last breath but I hate you fuckwits out there who think you’re going to win updoots while standing in line for the “showers.”
I would prefer not to have to talk about this, but this is part of how the alt-right has gained cultural hegemony in the US (at least on the internet). I’m not going to spend all my time arguing about it, but when I see someone repeating disinformation about a high-profile leftist commentator I’m going to challenge it because it harms the ability of the left to organize.
I give modest pushback against these edgy kids trying to earn social credit for pushing back on high-visibility targets, but I also don’t want to get dragged down into these absolutely brain-damaged arguments like, who tweeted the “R-slur” five years ago or if someone’s dog made a noise. It’s actual destruction to our future to allow this to distract us, and most of the time it’s completely manufactured. There are armies of people out there prowling the internet for ways to drive wedges between us socially. Not a lie, not a conspiracy, actual fact.
At the end of the day, if there’s a media personality you can’t stand, you can in fact just not watch them.
You should let scientists know you’ve developed telepathy and can determine what someone else has or hasn’t seen without being told. I’m sure they’d be fascinated. I’m not.
Are you seriously playing the “you didn’t deny this specific thing therefore your accuser must be right” card? That’s an unacceptable and juvenile attack, not even close to a good-faith attempt at arguing the issue.
Well that’s just hypocritical, to say I’m a moron who believes whatever narrative someone else spins up for me, which is a narrative that you yourself are spinning up for god-knows-who. Shame on you.
Hon, this situation is literally the exact definition of virtue signaling. You care more about expressing how against animal abuse you are, over the actual facts of what happened. Which is the same reason I call it proto-veganism. You’re misusing the language of animal welfare advocates to instead be loud about one particular pet issue. (Pun intended 😉)
Look sis, if all you’re asserting is that the video looked like abuse and all explanations to the contrary are baseless from biased parties, then there is very little I can say to convince you otherwise. I’m sure you think I’m a Hasan lover, when I truth I can’t stand the man. His whole dude bro yelling style stresses me the fuck out, agree with his politics, but I NEVER watch his stream. Don’t even have a twitch account.
So instead of going through all the points/counterpoints of this conspiracy can I just ask you to occams razor this? Is it more likely Hasan has secretly been shocking her for years, taping over prongs when accused and gaslighting everyone who comes to his house? Or that she bumps her paw against the bed, which you can clearly see in the video, and yelps at the same time Hasan reaches for something on his desk?
Look, you can make a tinfoil hat about anything you want. No one could stop you. But fundamentally, with all of the racist, sexist and transphobic shit happening in the US, is putting your energy towards Hasans dog really a good use of time? Even in the scope of animal abuse, this is nothing compared to the daily abuse of the meat and dairy industries.
Hasan was banned for correctly criticizing zionism and Israeli genocide, I truly don’t understand why you’re talking about a dog instead.
I have! They’re beautiful. I never needed anything more than a standard leash and collar.
That said, I know nothing about this incident or the random Internet personality that no one seems to care about. I’m just chiming in because I like dogs.
Edit: I should also mention that I’m not a little prepubescent boy who can’t control an animal. Is that relevant to the topic?
If your next point is that a shock collar is necessary to train a large dog, first of all you’re wrong about that. But let’s say it is. Do you think it’s ethical to “train” the dog to sit in the same spot on camera for hours on end, for streamer content? Because you’d be wrong there too. There is no defending Hasan’s treatment of his dog.
You’re creating an incredibly high barrier for change, which only leads to inaction. The more issues you tie together, the less consensus you can get
There is always another issue to point to. What about malaria? That kills more people each year than all global wars combined. When was the last time you donated to anti-malaria efforts?
We should be agreeing on the topic at hand, not attacking each other over separate issues. You’ll never agree on every issue, but you can always agree on at least one issue
You’re missing their point. Two things we know about Hasan:
He’s an influential and outspoken critic of human rights abuses, which has made him a target of the people/institutions responsible
He might have used a shock collar to train his dog which he might have used on stream
Even if the latter is true, giving more weight to it than the former seems pretty disproportionate (imo).
As a vegan I abhor violence toward animals (and humans) and was dismayed when I saw the original clip. But after being absolutely pummelled with bs outrage “analysis” videos, to me it became clear that there was a coordinated campaign being waged to smear him, very likely from those whose abuses he criticizes.
If he uses a shock collar to train his dog, I do not like that. Ultimately, my conclusion though is that I do know that he has consistenty taken a stand against fascism, and to me it is clear which of those has more substance.
well that’s great, glad to hear that!
you might want to change your password or something bc someone is posting otherwise on your account, which is so weird.
I am mostly vegetarian, eating meat only once a week
“I have animals slaughtered for me on a weekly basis and lie about it, but I’m deeply concerned about unsubstantiated rumors about a leftist streamer using a shock collar.”
THAT GOT HIM BANNED??? NOT THE ANIMAL ABUSE??
I don’t watch Hasan but I’m smart enough to see when whingy, bad-faith hate-watchers are attempting to blow something dumb out of proportion to get naive people to go “ANIMAL ABUSE” as a huge distraction from actual issues.

This was more or less my experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEhox0hrKAs
I don’t like his content but I really respect his position in the ecosystem, which is essentially an off-ramp for otherwise right wing podcast bros who only respond to dunking-as-rhetoric Andrew Tate types

That was debunked.
Hasan shocked his dog, if that’s what you mean. Animal abuse? No. The dog is relatively fine and spoiled.
Not to the satisfaction of people who care about the ethical treatment of pets.
If you’re that die hard then you know owning a pet in and of itself is animal abuse.
Why bother defending a streamer that uses a shock collar to keep his dog on camera for views
I don’t recall defending him.
You’re free to think that, but acting like it’s a fact everyone should agree with is just not okay.
Please feel free to enlighten me on how forcing animals into shelters against their will and not giving them the attention and time they would get in their natural habitat is any different than jails or prisons for humans.

There is no video of abuse. You’re a moron who believes whatever narrative someone spins up for you. Get lost.

just pets?
No, I also believe in the ethical treatment of strawmen /s
Hate the dude because you disagree with him (or are jealous of his looks or some shit), but the animal abuse stuff is so fucking dumb
looks like an animal abuser to me
What makes someone look like an animal abuser to you?
i think its the dead, soulless eyes
Well, being on video committing animal abuse, for one.
Have you ever had a dog (specifically a large breed) before?
I have! They’re beautiful. I never needed anything more than a standard leash and collar.
That said, I know nothing about this incident or the random Internet personality that no one seems to care about. I’m just chiming in because I like dogs.

It’s not a fucking shock collar anyways he literally showed the model and everything.
He suckered you. Congratulations, you’re gullible.
just curious, do you eat animals?
do u beat children?
quick question, are you vegan?
Yes. Cant get me with “what-about-the-other-animals”
Pretty rich to say that when this whole digression is just going “what-about-hasan’s-dog” to an unrelated incident.
It was pretty obvious since you value an alleged dog shock collar more than brown babies
This mentality is so supremely unhelpful
You’re creating an incredibly high barrier for change, which only leads to inaction. The more issues you tie together, the less consensus you can get

Yeah guess what time changes and diets change. Also wow you really looked threw my comments just to find that? Lmaoooo
“I have animals slaughtered for me on a weekly basis and lie about it, but I’m deeply concerned about unsubstantiated rumors about a leftist streamer using a shock collar.”
Least bad faith carnist.
You got caught lying, take your L and move on
lol it was the first page, four days ago. glad you’ve switched though!
