“The media should only feed people hopelessness so that they will accept their lot in life and shut up about it.”

The headline in the OP is clearly wrong. But you want to be lied to because it provides an optimistic message? That seems even more bootlicking than the strawman you presented in your comment.

Nah more like if we stop pretending through headlines that something is being done, we can wake up from this coma we seem to be in and actually take any action.

If that’s your goal, you may want to study which communication methods have proven to be effectively inspiring in past political movements. Because I’m pretty sure “there’s no winning” is not among them.

At some point you need to be realistic. Having false hope helps nobody. No, you will not be able to magically fix your broken ass country with elections, if those are even going to happen the way you think which I highly doubt. That country is beyond saving. Give up false hope and get tf out of there.

Dude, it’s lemmy alright, I don’t think I’m exactly starting a political movement here.

I guess my point is more that cope-y articles like this one help people be complacent because they think that somehow the Trump fever will break on its own despite a decade of evidence to the contrary.

Tbf I think you’re both kind of right. Complacency and hopelessness are two sides of the same coin and it’s bloody difficult to land the damn thing on its edge.
