I always try to get something a little different with static shots. Although owls cannot move their eyeballs, they have incredible flexibility to rotate their heads. In this case, the owl was reacting to a bald eagle flying high overhead and was looking straight up.

This reminds me of tawny frogmouths. They try to look like dead branches
