To me that reads…we don’t want lazy asses because our job requires you to pay attention…
Like for example… transportation of bricks at a construction site where you must toss bricks at your coworkers or receive bricks tossed at you by your coworkers. That’s demanding and fast paced.
To me that reads more like… we’re going to put too much on your plate, you’ll have to work lots of overtime, you’ll be stressed all the time and we expect you not to complain because we warned you in advance.
These jobs are the ones where they don’t hire enough people and they genuinely believe that they you can give them 100% every minute you’re on the clock. It’s high-pressure and fast-paced because they’re stupid and set insane deadlines with the client without consulting you first. Nevermind that they’ll bust out the “well, I stay late every day, too!” and you’ll get fired soon after if you say “yea, and your quality hugely suffers for it.”
Their definition of “lazy” conflicts heavily with reality. They work hard, not smart, producing rushed, shitty work that takes them twice as long to do because they haven’t given themselves even 10 minutes in the last decade to learn a new skill or tool in the software. I worked with a grown adult in 2023 who wouldn’t upgrade from AutoCAD 2013 and he was the drafting manager. He wasn’t the only one like that, either.

I get a feeling you haven’t had much corporate work experience
Only 10 years at the biggest engineering company in the world. I know my TPS report when I see it…they literally have a TPS report.
