Sequel to Dungeon Crawler Carl. Carl and Donut get to the next level, get into more trouble, get additional skills and levels, and figure more things out. Pretty sure I can reuse the description for all subsequent books in the series. Basically an extension of the first book. If you liked it, you’ll like this one. Continues to be dumb fun.
I’m now at book five and it keeps on giving. Really great series! Just sad you can’t buy it as a DRM-free ebook from anywhere.
I think you can get the ebooks directly from the author’s Patreon. I haven’t done it myself so I’m not 100% certain but I’ve read that there are downloads for his subscibers (supporters? IDK what donators are called on that app).
I thought you can only get the chapters, and not full ebooks?
I thought it was whole books but I’m w sure. Unfortunately, this is a case where Reddit would have the answer since there’s a super active subreddit for DCC

The series really hits its stride in book 4. No spoilers, but there is a distinct tone shift, and it’s when most readers say the series truly ascends from “great” to “amazing”. Also, calling it dumb fun is a pretty funny take. The entire series is a scathing rebuke of capitalism and conservatism, wrapped in a fart joke.
The whole series is a good example of how to turn a conservative into a social anarchist. Lonely white military bro with a harsh upbringing, who internalizes all of his feelings? And then suddenly being pushed into a scenario where you’re forced to be a badass hero asskicker? Yeah, Carl’s characterization was grown in a vat to be someone conservative men would imprint upon. He’s meant to be sympathetic to that demographic, so they can then sympathize with the person who is trying to burn the aliens’ entire end-stage capitalist system down and piss on the ashes. The ironic part is that many of those conservative readers end up on social media, arguing the Carl is actually conservative. Because they’re too wrapped up in identity politics to see that the individual actions have all been anything but conservative.

Oh, I get the allegory and the social commentary, but that doesn’t stop it from being dumb fun. It’s all RPG tropes and pretty heavy handed plot points, but that’s fine, it’s not trying to be anything else. Compare it to something like the Children Of Time series (one of my modern SF books) and the difference in depth is pretty striking. Again, not really a criticism. Sometimes a person gets a craving for junk food.
