Thomas Preston, C. O. Johnson distinguished professor of political science at Washington State University, said in an interview Friday that Baumgartnerā€™s position was ā€œshamefulā€ and the administrationā€™s actions that morning were ā€œdisturbing.ā€

ā€œItā€™s just an utterly disgraceful comment, and it seems that very few Republicans have any sort of courage or fortitude to actually stand up to what is clearly just a vile and disgraceful performance that we saw today in the White House,ā€ Preston said.

Preston characterized the mineral rights proposal as grossly transactional ā€“ pay to use Trumpā€™s fire hose or heā€™ll let Ukraine burn down ā€“ and ultimately a ā€œsmokescreenā€ meant to give Trump an excuse to pull out of Ukraine altogether. He argued acquiring the minerals is significantly more uncertain than Trump has claimed and that there appear to be few guarantees for the security for Ukrainians if they sign a deal.

ā€œCongressman Michael Baumgartner is currently serving his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives where he represents the people of Washington Stateā€™s 5th Congressional District.ā€ https://baumgartner.house.gov/about

Heā€™s a MAGA bootlicker and is unfit for office. What an embarrassment to our nation he is.

It very much feels like all the American politicians getting any significant news coverage, now, are an embarrassment to the country, and the world.

You ALL agree with that by doing nothing. So is having a terrorist as president with the goal of ww3. You are the gun loving country where everyone is armed. The Republicans showed you how itā€™s done. You on the other hand are just watching you are at least as guilty. Luigi the only person in America with courage.

Edit: This is not to say that I myself would have the courage to act differently. I would just know that I was partly to blame and would not wash my hands of it

Most of us canā€™t just up an murder the POTUS, and where has Luigiā€™s courage landed him? I love everything that heā€™s accused of, but taking down an unguarded, unsuspecting CEO is not overthrowing the US government.

Thatā€™s why I made the edit that I wouldnā€™t be any better in this case, because as an outsider itā€™s easy to say something like that.

Fuck off. America is huge! I could drive 6 hours in one direction and not leave my state. Thereā€™s a lot of people that disagree with the current presidentā€™s actions and heā€™s thousands of miles away from me and many others.

Whatā€™s my point againā€¦ oh yeah, fuck off. It takes a lot for anyone to do anything in this country.

We need to stand together! Power to the people.
