Thank you to Apollo, Gavin Nelson and Matthew Skiles for the beautiful avatar and banner pictures.
I love the way the Tree is automatically created. Having the ability to rename the root on the occasion where it’s not intuitive, would be perfect.
The Hook Up are working on a smart lock comparison video, I would guess it be out in the next week. Cost will be a factor in his recommendations.
Yes, posts can remain on some rogue servers forever.
Up until recently, deleted posts were stored in all server’s databases forever, just with a deleted flag next to them. It was recently changed to purge after 30 days. Even so, someone could setup a server that ignores all deletes and will still retain them forever.
For privacy, editing your post first may be useful as that seems to propagate faster. This could still suffer from the same rogue server issue not respecting edits.
This is a problem that doesn’t seem to have an answer yet.
Yes I did see that a few weeks ago. I’ve mostly been using an app for the last few weeks though. I tried to take a screenshot, but was too slow.
Cheers!
Cheers!
It might be in a Language you have disabled in your Lemmy settings.
Would you put the sensor itself inside the fridge/freezer, and would it still have signal?
Good news, Lemmy 18.3 did fix it, no issues replying to you and I didn’t have to manually select my language, it was auto set to English! Hopefully 18.3 gets rolled out to everyone’s instances posthaste!
Hey there, a patch for the reply issue was added to Lemmy 18.3. I’m just testing if it seems to have fixed it.
Check your Languages in your Lemmy settings.
Browse to https://yourLemmyServer/settings and check that under Languages you have all the languages you want to see as well as Undetermined. You may need the Ctrl+Click if using a desktop browser.
Save, then check the post again.
When I first bought the speakers/displays they seemed to be releasing software updates at a quick pace, but it seems like they have slowed to a crawl. Classic Google to abandon products to move onto the next shiny thing.
Over the last year or so there was big cuts to the Google Assistant teams, and then they merged the Assistant and Bard teams together.
Personally, I’ve recently had issues with one of mine not turning off the display at night. I was also really disappointed when they stopped integrating with third party shopping list apps. My devices are definitely less useful now.
That one is showing as Undetermined as well. I setup a Kbin account and had the same behaviour, comment was set to English in Kbin, but would appear as Undetermined on Lemmy.
The issue with replying from Lemmy seems to occur when Communities have set their Language to only English (or at least not Undetermined). For some reason the Kbin supposedly Undetermined messages are allowed to post, but if anyone on Lemmy tries to reply to it, Lemmy will try to use the same language, which will result in a silent error (but visible in Developer Tools).
Again, manually changing my reply on Lemmy to specifically use English works.
In conclusion there’s probably nothing you can do, but there is an issue for Lemmy language issue here.
Agreed, I put it in quotes, and listed the PCB swap in the title for that reason. I probably should have used single quotes.
Yeah I’m super keen to gut some old minis. Hopefully it works with the Google Home Minis as well.
Test, please ignore.
Off topic, but I noticed that I had issues replying to your comment in my Lemmy app (Voyager). I’m trying to work out why.
Logging in via a web browser, I can see that the post and parent comments are tagged as English, but your comment language is Undetermined. If I tag my post as language Undermined, my reply doesn’t get sent, just shows a loading animation. If I change it to English, it posts, but I’m not sure if that will display for you. Please let me know if you see this message.
This could be preventing some people engaging with your posts. In Kbin settings, can you define the language of your posts?
