If there is a grain of truth to this story, I’d love to read into it more from a less biased source like Global Times or SCMP.
Israel would claim that the flotilla was providing material assistance to a military enemy, and were a legitimate target
Democratic party voters need to learn to stop voting for Democrats
Can’t wait till EUV comes out, they say it’s due for a 2025 release
The United Nations is designed to be an open forum for nations to peacefully resolve issues. The body to handle things like this would be the Security Council, which has five permanent members: France, Britain, Russia, China, and the United States, along with a number of randomly selected members.
In this case, the United States is blocking the UN’s ability to hold Israel responsible. It’s just the United States. The protection of the United States in the international community is the only thing allowing Israel to continue its genocide.
Why can’t we be critical of democrats by being selective in the primaries?
Watch out guys, we got a Vooter over here!
Zelensky offers to give up something he’s about to lose anyways in order to gain something that isn’t going to happen.
I think it’s because most of those personal stories were attention-grabbing fakes and there’s fewer incentives to do that on Lemmy
So is the part of the U.S. Greenland is laid over here

One additional suggestion I might make is to allow you to report the post to your own instance admins but not the host admins. This would be useful for when you want a post to be hidden or an instance defederated and you don’t want to also send your identity to the instance you’re reporting.
This might be used for:
Reporting spam coming from an instance that is unlikely to delete it.
Reporting CSAM on an instance that supports it.
Reporting hate speech on instances that believe hate speech is covered by free speech.
Etc.
It was disputed before the oil was found, but the ownership wasn’t pushed much because the land was not particularly valuable.
In colonial times, first, both were owned by Spain. Then the Dutch colonized Guyana, but a definite border was never set between Guyana and Venezuela. Then the British conquered Guyana from the Dutch. The border dispute was inherited by Venezuela and Guyana.
It’s not as simple as “Guyana has oil, Venezuela wants oil, Venezuela is invading Guyana for their oil.” Instead, oil has been found mostly offshore of land Venezuela has always claimed as its own. On top of this, the oil is mostly being extracted by countries that officially consider Venezuela an enemy state, and those countries are deploying their military forces much closer to Venezuela’s undisputed territory than their own (though this is, of course, nothing new to the United States, who don’t even hesitate to conduct patrols in the South China Sea, let alone the South Caribbean).
It’s impossible to say for sure, but if Guyana wasn’t solidly aligning itself with the United States and its corporations, it’s unlikely that tensions would be as high as they are.
Uncritical support for the Lemmy development team.
I’m not sure how to feel about this - there will always be dangerous jobs in any worksite and it’s better that the danger is more highly compensated than the alternative - that the job is forced upon those with the least alternatives and paid the same or less than safer work (like the situation in the OP with incarcerated firefighters).
I work in a grocery store meat department and was a meat cutter for 2 years at a previous job. It pays well at least partially because you’re working with your hands next to a spinning blade for hours a day and it’s pretty normal to see old timers missing a finger or two.
