Not exclusive to the US. Here in Japan (and I’m sure plenty of places) as well.

As someone who had to take tomorrow off to visit the vehicle inspection place, I’m getting a kick…

Their apparent bait-and-switch on fallout 76 goods, constantly releasing incomplete products, greed, and a host of other issues made me stop giving them money. I was a paying ESO member when the fallout 76 stuff was happening and that was the last straw for me; no more money for them until they have a proven track record.
What is it with people in vehicles taking an upward-angled photo of their face? I noticed this in another post where the identity of the person didn’t even have anything to do with the content. Is this a new trend or something?
I’m in my mid-40s. I simultaneously feel 20 and 70 and that becomes about 327 when I interact with anyone under tha age of about 30.

I accidentally poured tapwater over my coffee in my french press this morning (I apparently forgot to hit the button on the kettle to heat the water and definitely failed to check). It was alright, if weak, impromptu cold-brew. Hope your power comes back soon!

Most of Japan’s cities are 20-30. There are some bigger, multi-lane roads that are 40 or 50. It kinda depends on road size, curvatures, and how residential the area is.

That’s more than enough speed in an urban area. Safety is more important than speed.

I usually do 2 (and sometimes a snack) between ~11 and ~17 unless I know I’m going to be doing a lot of physical work on that day or won’t be able to eat a real meal at a normal time. I have noticed no ill effects from doing this for years at this point.

I learned today my router (Japan domestic Buffalo router) can’t block domains, only IPs. That’s annoying.

I’ve seen much less anti-AI sentiment here in Japan. I’ve known artists who aren’t happy and engineers like me who don’t vibe-code, but I’ve never found average people mentioning it. Tons of obviously AI ads, banners, etc. around in the cities.
I used to run my own mailserver, but I haven’t in years now since it was so much of a pain. Not even the set-up part; that wasn’t the worst thing in the world. It’s uptime, back-ups, and other considerations that just require time and money I don’t have.
I wonder what it will be like. GW was always kinda ‘meh’ to me (except when there was platforming like there was for some collectible or something in GW2 which could fuck right off). I hope it works out well, though.

WE NEED WARP 9 BUT SCOTTY SAYS THE 753 IS DOING THE BEST IT CAN DRAGGING NOW THAT WE ARE DONE W/WX
There are some silly ones in there.

Fuck apartheid states. Fuck people/entities who think they are superior/chosen above others. Fuck ethnic cleansing. Fuck genocide.

In 1998 we very much had newsgroups communities and local/regional BBS that had gaming discussions, hints, maps, puzzle solutions, etc. NNTP in particular could allow the quick regional and global spread (connecting to other BBS was long distance phone charges, but still possible if you knew about them).

Half a century is a bit of a stretch, but I otherwise agree. It should not have gotten to the level of trouble it became, but I also dislike the implication in the OP that it was just a non-issue meant to scare people; it was a problem that indeed came to a head because many companies kicked the proverbial can, but a potential real problem nonetheless (especially in medical/insurance/monetary systems rather than “planes will rain from the sky” sorts of issues).

An insane amount of money and overtime went into changing software and data to make sure that a lot of bad things did not happen. It’s not that the Y2K bug was a nothing burger, a lot of people worked very hard to make sure critical systems were changed.
Most dark chocolate I’ve had sucks the moisture completely out of my mouth and leaves just bitterness. It’s not an enjoyable experience at all. Cacao percentage plays a role, but anything north of around 75% I can’t stand at all.
