Marginally? Do you have a citation about this for European towns and cities? In any case, a multi-pronged approach is needed: 1. Reduce CO2 emissions, 2. Promote passive cooling (trees, shade, insulation,…) 3. Use airco in critical locations . Most city councils are already doing this… although some political parties are still in the climate collapse denial phase, so (1) is in some towns ignored.

Probably, humanity will suffer a population collapse within 200 years (mostly due to climate collapse; there are several studies and reviews in this topic). I’m more upset with the guests. Why leave a hotel or Airbnb a motel or a private home as a chaos? It’s an insult to the people that work there and to the hosts. I’ve glanced into hotel rooms that were disgusting . It’s the same in cafes and bakeries, people get up from their tables and leave their mess behind for the next guests. People have no respect these days.

Actually, I have some experience with this. You may think I was drunk at the time, but I wasn’t. I was home alone at night (hubby left darts), and after taking a shower I sort of stumbled into the living room, and sat down hard on a chair. For some reason, somebody had left a lightbulb on the seat. You can imagine the embarrassment I had to go through: spending the entire evening in a hospital with my bum in the air and the entire medical staff taking pictures. It took them ages and a special glue to extract the damn thing.
