ICE agents can stop anyone they suspect of being undocumented. Now, residents are weighing their rights and their pride against their own safety.
I mean. I carry my passport card (distinct from my actual passport, but it lets you go to Mexico and Canada and a couple other places without an actual passport) in my wallet as a secondary ID, but that’s also not a typical thing to do for most people. So technically that would probably satisfy the ICEatzgruppen. But at the same time they’d probably shoot me in the face for jollies if I was at a protest and they felt like it. So I also have a riot helmet with a face shield, and a full-face “work mask” with high grade filters.
Not that this is going to help. You cannot comply your way out of fascism; more than likely, they’ll just rip the passport off, throw it away, and say “I don’t see a passport”
Or say “this is fake” and take or destroy it.
And you can’t do shit to report it as destroyed or stolen. Cause they’re federal agents now, so fuck you.
