A person’s parents occupy a special place in their world, no matter the parent’s beliefs or actions. Maternal grandparents raised me, didn’t meet my dad until I was 20.

Dad was raised poor white-trash in a drunken, violent home. I was raised like a girl in a 50s-style sitcom house. I was already very much like dad when I met him. Wish mom and I had spent more time, but we’re both self-absorbed assholes so we missed out a bit.
