Oof, not a great look for Lemmy if we now have lists of banned words.

Obviously if someone is being abusive and a dick, that’s reason to ban or temp ban them. But if there are straight up dumb word filters that we need to walk on eggshells on to appease a specific moderators sensitivities, well, how Reddit of them.

George Carlin gave us 7 dirty words that cant be said on TV

The fact there are WORDS that cant be used in general is we todd did, the mods already removed the comment stating said word.

re·tard verb past tense: retarded; past participle: retarded /rəˈtärd/

delay or hold back in terms of progress, development, or accomplishment.
        "our progress was retarded"

Dont say this word, mods will removed because they are a bunch of Todds

More accurately they took issue with how you expressed that sentiment. We’re all thinking the same thing about ICE.

            The answer read:

I called ICE agents [redacted] and mods evidently disagreed with that assessment

It was removed by mods with the description

You can call them what you want, as long as you don’t use ableist slurs

Because defunct_punk is wrong to suggest that the mods “don’t agree”. It’s just about avoiding the use of slurs.

Let’s put it this way: how would you feel about it if the slur being used began with N and derived from a Latin word for “black”, or if it began with F and derived from a word for a bundle of sticks?
