Frankly I thought Q was wasted on DS9. Like they didn’t want him there. Which is fine - it’s not QS9 after all, but the TNGs with Q are always great and they could have had some great ones. Instead they just had Sisko punch him in the face. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well they did want to set DS9 apart from TNG. So having a captain totally cool with punching Q set the stage.
Of course, I believe right after that episode Q went straight back to go annoy Picard.
One week later, literally.
It’s also some good foreshadowing for stuff we don’t find out until literally the last episode.
