I mean… The iPhone one is legit, though.

IPhones are expensive, and there are a lot of alternatives on the market. It’s not like anyone is railroaded into buying an apple product. And considering the alternatives are all significantly cheaper, it’s an active choice to buy an apple product as opposed to anyone else.

I mean… The iPhone one is legit, though.

You (and several others) are missing the entire point of this meme/comic.

It’s not about iPhones or smart, ethical alternatives in consumerism.

It is making fun of those who insist that hypocrisy negates facts!

A lifelong smoker tells you that smoking is bad. You point out what a hypocrite he
is because he smokes. Does any of that have any relevance at all regarding the fact
      that smoking is indeed bad?

Stop focusing on the iPhone. The meme/comic is about hypocrisy and how people are dismissive
of facts if they feel they can accuse people of being hypocrites.

There is a fallacy for this:

You are also getting it wrong.

It’s making fun of those who see hypocrisy where there is none.

The characters of this comic who are criticizing society are not hypocrites.

The character is critiquing individuals for their hypocrisy. He is not negating the facts. He’s pointing out those that are living under certain conditions contribute to the condition they are living under despite complaining about it.

This premise works fine with seatbelts and monarchies because the individual doesn’t have a choice. But falls apart when presenting something where the individual does have a choice.

Then character in this comic presents the individuals as part of the problem they are complaining about, assuming there is some alternative way. I think you’ve missed that part.

There is no hypocrisy here though. That’s the whole point. Buying an imperfect product, or contributing to an imperfect system does not invalidate anyone’s right to argue that things should be better.

Driving a car while complaining that roads are congested does not make you a hypocrite. It just makes you a driver (who is part of the problem) that is aware that there is a problem that should be fixed.

Yeah, there is a lot of things wrong with apple products. I’m also not interested in buying the newest apple products because I would rather buy a decent refurbished apple product that’s not too old for multiple years and for as long as possible
