This is the stupidity that brought Trump to power. You are responsible for everything he does as president. Congratulations.

Sorry I have a shred of morality to stand on and am not happy just signing off on genocide.

How you look at our political system and how utterly broken it is devoid of any substantive connection to the will of the people and blame ME speaks to both the level of depravity and patent refusal to grapple with the material realities of our world that liberalism is unfit to deal with.

How you look at two candidates who promise endless war and destruction with no plan to make the lives of those suffering at home better and then blame me for saying both are disgusting and will lead to many of the same results baffles me.

If you think Kamala Harris would have been different on Gaza you are braindead. If you think she would have been less gungho for deportation (Biden increased ICE a fuck load because he likes deporting people so much and remember Kamala Harris was just more Biden based on her entire campaign) you are braindead. If you think we wouldn’t have bombed Iran or attacked Venezuela in some way you are braindead.

The fact of the matter is Kamala Harris had an easy path to victory if she only actually catered her messaging to people who are suffering in this country. Instead of leaning into incredibly popular progessive policy she decided (as dems always do) to go to the center to peal off people from the right because God forbid we try the policies that work anywhere else in the world.

The audacity of bloodthirsty liberals looking down on others with a backbone. Here is a line that I’m sure will make your little brain explode. Trump is president in no small part because of how awful Obama was as a president.

Sorry I have a shred of morality

Well that’s good, because you’ve got a below room temperature IQ. So hold on tight to that shred of morality. I’m sure it’s the only shred you have left after helping to empower fascists.

Why are all the dumbest motherfuckers on Lemmy from .ml? Go back to your pathetic circlejerk and leave the thinking to people with brains.

Yeah because y’all liberals are doin a bang up job. What a joke.

You could just tell me you like seeing Muslims get murdered rather trying to make it seem like anything else.

If you’ll vote for genocide you’ll vote for anything. Sorry I’ve actually educated myself and have a shred of humanity still lol

Also as usual y’all got no smoke other than name calling. Typical small brained liberal take tbh.

                  …no? What?

My point is its always been a game for the rich to fight the poor and our political candidates perpetuate it. Both parties in our government are anti the average person and are only pro big corporations (i.e. rich people who own them). A fascist dictator is the logic conclusion of both party’s ideology because for both the base rational is neoliberalism. Capital inevitably consolidates power unchecked and neither party has any interest in regulation. Hence this outcome is inevitable short of having someone willing to push the policies the average person needs.

We need a wholesale redo on the constitution it is an old shitty doc made by rich assholes to protect rich assholes.

Yeah, you’re an idiot; you’ve already made that clear. You can want more progressive leadership - and I agree with that, but given the choice, you supported trump and the speed run to fascism, insane global bullying, corruption and support of pedophiles. That’s on you and now we’re fucked.

Have you not been paying any god damned attention the things Trump has been doing? I mean, we know you’re stupid, but are you genuinely that fucking stupid that you think things would be exactly as they are now if Kamala was in office? Of course it wouldn’t be a socialist utopia, but do you honestly believe that Kamala would have kidnapped a head of state as part of a hostile government regime change or put blatant propaganda in schools? Are you really that fucking smothered in your own idiocy and delusion?

You don’t have political views, all you have is a dogma.

Liberals like this can’t be reasoned with they are stuck in their own little bubble thinking if only they vote harder they can get that change they want. They are stuck fighting for their meaningless existence as an independent actor free of the shackles of others to the detriment of the collective action they desperately need but view with such disdain.

How does voting for the same people with the same inane politics that don’t benefit you at all help?

It feels like you haven’t thought about it at all. I encourage you to do that painful as it might be.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

Also I love that y’all never have any substantive response just shit flinging. Deeply unserious and makes you look like a moron to anyone but those who lack any kind of knowledge at all (such as yourself based on your responses).

Also laughable you think I am doing nothing. I’m an extremely active member of local organizing groups in my area. Last year we got legislation protecting transgender people passed and we’ve bolstered our rapid response network for combating ICE among other things.

            What are you doing?

See this is the same idiotic line of reasoning that leads us to having ever worse political candidates. It not the party’s fault for having dogshit warmonger candidates who want to further entrench corporate oligarchy in the US its the people who don’t want to vote for that!

So fucking stupid dude why are you so hellbent on being a willing cuck to the system that fucking hates you and wants you dead?

How you are not mad at the Dems for not running all the most popular policies that would have slam dunk won the election is crazy lmao. It’s loser shit and speaks to how servile you are to the systems that be.

Also just FYI if every person who didn’t vote (I did vote BTW just not for Kamala or Trump) voted for Kamala she still lost so your argument doesn’t even make sense. Also the number one reason why people didnt vote for her was Gaza and the second was the economy. What do you think this means about how she should have run her campaign if she wanted to win?

If you didn’t vote for Harris, you enabled Trump. It’s really that simple.

At a national level, the winner of any given election will be the Republican or the Democrat. There literally is no other choice.

The last time a 3rd party candidate even came close was Ross Perot in 1992, and he won exactly 0 states.

Prior to that? George Wallace, 1968, who captured the “I really want Nixon, but man, he’s just not racist enough!” vote. He won 5 states.

                  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968_United_States_presidential_election

Outside that? 3rd parties hover around 1%, 3%, on a really good day maybe 5%.

So you can choose to help a candidate you like or you can choose to hurt a candidate you don’t like.

Voting 3rd party only hurts the mainstream candidate closest to your position and helps the one farther from your opinion.

So what do we do to fix all this?

#1 - Get 100% vote by mail in every state. We saw what a difference it made in 2020.

#2 - Endorse progressive candidates at the local level and vote them up the chain. Mamdani is a great start in New York, let’s see what he does then move him up to Congress or the Senate. He’ll never make President because he’s not a native born citizen, but how far up can he go?

#3 - The poison is first past the post elections, that needs to change, but as we saw in 2024, people are incredibly resistant to changing it. People voted it down, and in elections where it was used, voters skipped those votes.

                  https://stateline.org/2024/11/14/ranked-choice-voting-faces-cloudy-future-after-election-setbacks/

Ranked choice was on the ballot in multiple states + Washington D.C. Only D.C. passed it.

Portland used it for a city election and one district saw a 20% drop in votes:

                  https://www.opb.org/article/2024/12/17/why-portlands-district-1-voter-participation-lagged-other-districts-in-first-election-using-ranked-choice-voting/

I hear you but this argument is stupid because I can just flip it and say “any vote for a third party supports Harris” if I was a Trump guy.

The fact of the matter is even if every person who voted like I did (I voted for PSL not afraid to admit it) voted for Harris she still loses because she ran such a dogshit and unpopular campaign that missed every single thing people were screaming out for.
