^ Stochastic bait. Hold the line, people. Trump is extremely desperate and is on track to losing a huge chunk of power this year in midterms.

Register. Primary in the best Dems you can. Then Vote Dem in the General Elections. Ignore fools like this throwing peanuts from the peanut gallery.

We’ll talk on the other side of midterms.

The fuck do you mean hold the line? No one is holding the line. It’s being pushed back further and further every day and hardly anyone is doing anything, let alone “holding the line”.

Of course people are giving up, no one is doing anything.

The time to do something was November 5th, 2024 and the months preceding in GOTV. The current time is to reach out to every friend, acquaintance, co-worker, or maga person you know in your actual community and get offline. The next time to do something is voting for better Democratic candidates in the primaries. Throughout will be more No Kings protests which at every interval has helped chip away Trump’s support. The next time will be the midterms where the first real power can be taken back.

Don’t be stupid. Be smart. This incident, tragic though it is, is beneficial to the opposition the way CK was to them.

Do NOT give them a Reichstag fire excuse they’re trying so hard to bait out. Even the Minneapolis Mayor said this.

And if you criticize this shit, then I am ALL. Fucking. Ears on what your better alternative is, and why you’re going to lead it by example.

dems had my vote in 2024. Theyll get one more vote from the in 2026. If they cant steer the country back when tbey knew fascism was on the line and did absolutely nothing in 2024, I am abstaining from voting blue (or red but never voted red) ever again. Voting straight socialist if I can or not at all going forward if dems fuck up their primary wins.

Fuck incompetency in the face of fascism.

I always vote, down to the lowest of local elections. I’ve never missed any and will always remain active.

But I do disagree with you. If you know your broad human history, you should know that there’s nothing that indicates that we’re guaranteed a solution. You seem to not realize that there very well may not be a good solution at all. You have to be more realistic.

Keep voting of course. will too. But overall I think we’re probably fucked.

What about that broader human history? Not the first time someone has said “I rule forever now” and the population said “the fuck you aren’t”. Make sure that history is not “The people of X could do nothing against the evil power of dictator Y, until the US swooped in and saved everyone”

Nowhere in my response did I say “humans have a 0% success rate.” Quote me if I did.

I said you can’t ignore that sometimes we fail, and there simply isn’t a solution, which you can’t ignore. Especially if you do want to succeed.

I can’t start a revolution by myself, I’ll be arrested and you’ll be the first to condemn me and say “we need to peacefully resolve this by voting for Democrats in the next election!”

It’s not “tough talk”, I said nothing tough. But there is no willingness to do what it takes, it’s very obvious what it takes, just look at history and see how people defeat fascists, there’s only one way it ever works, and it’s never by voting to the complicit second in power political party.

The reason we’re fucked is because people express voting in the midterms as their hope, instead of signaling to each other that they’re willing to do what it takes. But that’s uncomfortable and cuts into your apple tv time or whatever you waste your evenings on.

As far as me, couldn’t help you if I wanted. I’m not in the US, I’m just watching the empire collapse. I’d prefer Americans do something positive with their country and turn it into a force for good, but collapsing is still a net positive for the world. I saw we are fucked because my country’s currency is stupidly still pegged to the USD, and when that crashes it’ll fuck with our economy too.

But hey, at least you shot back at me and lol’ed and dismissed me as throwing peanuts, you’re doing your part! Keep worshipping complicit genocidal Democrats and hoping they save you.

But hey, keep throwing peanuts from the peanut gallery and pretend you know better; though best not to say “we” if you’re not going to be in the fight, yeah buddy? ;)

Other countries are gonna be trying their best to defend against a fascist US, and in the end, you are going to suffer as well. Due to your own government. You will not be absolved for not doing the hard thing, your very own government will make sure of that, if things are allowed to progress. And I want to press on that point: You will not be safe. And it will get worse. And it won’t be because of any other country.

Of course the rest of the world will be pissed at you too. Your country will be the aggressor against them. And they will not come to your rescue. Why would they, after all? They won’t be the aggressor. They will be defending themselves against you.

If you do not take action when the time comes, you will be left behind. Not intentionally, not by other countries at least.

You will be the average German in Nazi Germany. And how exactly, did other countries and history look on the average German in the end? And how did it go, for the average German? How many of them do you think thought “if only I had done something sooner”?

I don’t expect USA to stop the path it’s heading. I am preparing for the inevitable. I do not mind you blaming others. That is what I expect. You are going to face the consequences of your actions, and so am I also going to face the consequences of your actions. I will just be trying my best to survive a potential WW3, or, ideally, the consequences of a US civil war, and a Europe that stands alone.

You think I would not join a resistance if it was my country? I very much would. I would rather die in freedom than grow old unfree and under fascism. Though, chances are I would end my own life before growinf old due to that life and oppression itself being unbearable.

I do not see what I would fear in resistance, because the fear of what would happen were I not to resist would simply be greater. A life under fascism is simply not worth living. A life where I am not free to being myself is no life I would ever be satisfied by.

If you have kids, then this should especially apply to you, because you have kids to worry about. Kids to fight for. Kids that will live in this future you are heading towards. And, if it all so happens that you all survive, what will you answer when they ask you about today? Will you say that you fought for freedom? Joined a resistance and tried to prevent a worse future? Or if you won’t survive, remember by?

But what do I know. I’ve only known oppression my whole life, being a minority of multiple kinds. I clearly do not know what is implied by losing freedoms, and what oppression can feel like. My country might have been peaceful so far, but I know for a fact I would rather face death than lose the potential freedoms I have. That I would subvert the law and state, risk facing its ire. Because the alternative is far worse and much more psychologically insidious. And would likely end in death and suffering, anyway.

Look. I’m just trying to get you to think about this in a serious and life-threatening manner. Because it is. What you deem is the best course of action is up to you. But do not forget that the thing that seems to have the least cost today, might not have the least cost tomorrow. You very well might just be taking out a loan with a drastically high interest rate.

You’re saying I should book a flight to start a revolution in your country on your behalf because my country that’s been ravaged by American imperialism pegged its currency to the petrodollar?

Okay, deal, I’ll join. I’ll be your Che, but you have to be Fidel first.

I know it’s hard for you Americans to think of the rest of the world as even human, but we’re affected by your empire and we are in this shit together. Can we stop thinking everyone that criticized something needs to have a complete plan on how to make it better?

Film critics can will make bad movies, authors dont make good politicians and musicians bad therapists.

Someone can speak aloud the truth and be critical and not have a plan. That is what the collective is for.

Film critics can throw peanuts from the peanut gallery but nobody actually cares what they think if they don’t show they can make something better or even elucidate how to improve on the current script.

I’m not saying they can’t make such comments; but as a call to action? In terms of obvious suggestive stochastic rhetoric? That’s Chamberlain talk. Plain and simple.

In a way, it’s like they’re preaching to a choir of fellow critics who all agree the film sucks. But they don’t offer any substantive way to improve it. Instead they just cry and complain to other film critics to find a way to make it better, or just keep yelling at the director to do something. Nobody likes these people.

That is your requirements and not the rest of ours. I have watched critics not add anything, we are empathetic creatures, sometimes we want to know how others feel, not just what they think.

I am honestly fine with people crying about it being bad and preaching to the choir cause it makes for a more full sounding song.

I dont require everyone that says anything to always be productive and I would ask you to ask yourself why you think that is normal to require from everyone else.

Nope, not me. I am not fine with falsely equating film critics analyzing a film already completed to stochastic antagonists prodding what has yet to come.

Besides, like I said even if we entertain this false analogy, in a way, it’s like they’re preaching to a choir of fellow critics who all agree the film sucks. We crossed that bridge back in November 2024. Democracy is already dead. You have hope and that’s great, but it’s like having hope that you’ll get a touchdown and win after the game is already over and fans went home.

No, bridge was not quite crossed; people were ignorant. That’s a different story than rigged.

Fantasizing, fetischizing, about Viva la Revolucion isn’t going to cut it either.

The latter is why I feel so hopeless, I guess. I feel like this site and reddit both are just loud angry people with their fists in the air. I appreciate the emotion, but nothing we do here or elsewhere seems to matter. I haven’t “given up”, because I’m still going to vote and hold my opinions, but I can’t do anything that will change these happenings. I still take care of my immediate community as best I can. I just have to go live my life off the internet and hope it all works out.

I appreciate the clarification and this helped me better understand your position. As one Strat player to another, I can relate. I have family to care for and all I do every day is think about the most viable ways I can contribute to the cause in improving my children’s future.

Is it defeatist to accurately asses the situation of those with power?

Like sure it should be “no one in a position of government is going to do anything to push back or defend the peasants” but thats wordy and the peasants will occasionally shoot people but they just get stomped on harder and used as an excuse to feed us less and shoot us more often.
        It is just wordy.

I generally prefer it over “trolling” although in this case it might be more appropriate. What I mean is spreading negative sentiment with the goal of subverting something.

Spreading defeatism is enabling the oppression that you, correctly, describe as an objective reality

Should have gone with trolling. It think internet wise it really means to trigger a response from others and they did accomplish that.

As I have said elsewhere, I’m not above a good wail now and again and won’t fault others for crying out. Crying doesnt enable an abuser. They abuse whether or not you do. Its what you do after you cried it out that matters.

It does man. Making angry comments on twitter or instagram or whatever is pointless at best and feeding the machine at worst, but random, internet-based, direct human-to-human communication is valuable and beautiful and powerful.

If you’re someone who is thousands of kilometers away from the US but has their shitty late stage capitalist fingers in every corner of their life, what else can you do? I try to wield this weapon with love and hope you can find a better future, not hate because “you’re bad”. Your government is bad, it’s fucking shit. You’re just a person trying to do its human thing. I’ll take the “russian bot!!1!” accusations and try to explain that what makes me a dirty radical extremist leftist is that I just want you and everyone else to be happy, and do the human thing the way you like.

(I’m using the second person but none of this is directed at you OP. Just to Americans reading this)

Can you sing a song with your plan of action, or are you going to continue to post meaningless comments online about how mad you are?

Unless and until you fail to stop the ghouls you have for a government from starting shit in Europe, the greatest influence I can have is talking to you. But stating “no one has a plan” is just objectively false. And in any case, you don’t even really need one. It’s ok to just try to make things right, step by step.

Start getting organized and take this to the street. Start protesting peacefully but disruptively and then (and this is the uncomfortable part) when they meet you with violence, answer with violence.

Is the “fighting back” in the room with us right now?

I feel what this dude is saying because its true. No one is able to do anything to stop it. The post we are commenting on right now is about how they murdered in cold blood an innocent person on the street.

Oh but don’t worry the national guard is on standby. What a fucking god damn joke.

There comes a point where it isn’t defeatist, its reality. And here we unfortunately are.

                We’re fucked.

I get a feeling I’m going to be reposting this a lot in the near future.

Except you’re not dogs and you can see the torture machine for what it is. Or at least you have the power to, because the machine also always directs you to not think about the machine.

Being defeatist ensures the reality never changes. That’s what they’re banking on. You, us all, are being manipulated into compliance by a sophisticated, subtle and cruel hand that some call surveillance capitalism.

It is not a hopeless fight, things CAN be better. Only the desires of a handful of pathetic little men are in the way of that.

It breaks my heart too, but doing nothing will… do nothing to stop the violence that’s already all around you. From the bottom of my heart, I hope your kids can live in a better version of the USA.

The yes is implied. Don’t project your helplessness on others, it’s not helpful.

EDIT: I was hangry, I regret being this snarky.

I’m not going to be the European preaching what to do, but I’m still going to give you an honest answer.

Read books. If you have always heard about Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 but never read them or did so when you were a teen, now is a good time. Even if you’re not a reader, I guarantee you’ll go through them in a week.

Talk to people. Your neighbors, colleagues, people you meet at protests and demonstrations. Normalize speaking out

But most importantly and very simply, don’t give up. Learned helplessness (google the term) is being weaponized against you to keep you apathetic and discouraged. Keep hope and love - for your country, your family, yourself - alive.

The details on what practical steps to take are all in there.

First you’re European with no stake in our game. You swear at me when I asked you what your plan was. Then you tell me to read books that I read in high school and talk to my neighbors. Solid.
