My younger half brother, 13yo, just bought a PC with his own money that he’d saved for years. He gave me a link to one and I told him he can easily get much better specs than that for the same price, and told him I’ll help him get the parts and build it. He told me he would and then about a week ago he told me he’d just bought the one he found at first… I just feel like saying “that was dumb, now you’ll have to spend more sooner to upgrade because it can barely handle the games you wanted it for.” but I won’t, not that harshly at least. Still think he should have just given the money to our mom or his dad so they could have stopped this from happening.

And here I am, I bought DDR5 in November and now I’ve got a billion dollars of assets. All from hard work.

We have recently discovered that we have 2x16GB RAM stored in a drawer. Together with all the RAM that is currently in our PCs, server and laptops, I think we can safely retire with those assets alone.

Yea butu you’d rather help out a seller by ridding him of his stuff than paying even more to a company that gives 0 shits about you

Either way the prices are high but in one case the prices are always objectively lower and at least you’re not supporting this circlejerk industry

If you can find a cheap Xbox 360 the soft modding scene is also very good these days with BadUpdate and BadAvatar

Sure. But that system might be a bit too old for some folks. PS4 has relatively recent bangers, still.

Too old? I’ve seen, in this decade no less, single-digit aged children play Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing and having a blast, what are you on about?

            I said some folks.

but idk, my perception of gaming might be way off. I thought the older kids these days (who want to build their own PC) wanna play REVII remake, or the Red Dead Last of Spiderman Hades 2.

The only kids I know wanna play minecraft (bedrock).

Yeah same, my father in law wanted to replace his computer and I had to tell him the market is fucked right now. Luckily I was able to source him a pretty decent DDR4 system. Still more expensive than it should have been, but I got a good deal and it was within his budget. DDR4 is probably going to last him 10 years, as his old system was also 10 years old.

my current laptop has been owned by me for about 7-8 years. The hardware itself is firsthand but created 2016-2017.

      I’m so fucked
