I’ve found I have the opposite problem.
This boss just has 1 or 2 hits left, I can relax/try this new tactic and I’ll be fine/be able to revert to the tried and true method before it kills… Oh I’m dead, for the third time, rage quit.

Depends if the game is auto damage i.e. WOW or dodge based like dark souls. If you can avoid damage DO IT YOU COWARD

When you see it start to regenerate…and you have to heal
