I run mine under the faucet just to be sure all the dust is removed.

I skip this since I run Linux. A definite need if you use Windows though.
Where do I get Lindex?
Use a good steel brush.
Magnetize it to get any metal dust off
Giving them a thorough scrub with bleach should do it.
