Seatbelt is just Seattle and an extra “b”
Seat b elt… Flip the elt… Seat b tle… Remove the b…Seat tle!
For people like this I always ask “do you know what the penalty for not wearing a seatbelt is where you live?”
Usually get a “no” or some sort of fine number.
My response to either is always.
“The penalty is death”
Usually re-contextualises their stupid ass take in a productive and understandable way.
The garbage truck goes at 10 mph on surface streets you drive 90 on the freeway
My parents got overtaken on the freeway by a garbage truck once. It’s like seeing a mail truck driving at normal speeds, you feel lied to,
Well, was the guy hanging off the back?
I don’t think so. I think it would be a much stronger memory if they had been. :)
Some of those last mile drivers go fast, both in speed on the road and the time they take at each stop
Also, if the garbage truck is hit by another normal car, its heavy enough to barely budge, so doing the same off a car going the same speed would still be more dangerous.
Speed, mass and smell my dear Watson.
They hardly break over 20 mph.
They are HUGE, so it’s gonna take more time to get it up to speed. But more importantly, if it did get hit by another vehicle, it’s more likely that the garbage truck would take least amount of damage and or get moved.
It smells. Nearly no one is gonna want to be around it nor hit it. So it’s a natural deterrent.
I’ll throw in that it’s way faster for the workers to come and go from the back, than it would be for them to load into the truck near the front every time (or nearly every time).
And another thing…

Fuck you. That’s why. lolol
edit: grammar
The garbage collector isn’t the privileged one here.
Excuse me, what do you call first dibs on all the trash if not privilege
I saw a garbage truck passing the tram I was in, and remember thinking it’s going faster than usual. Then one of the guys fell off, almost got hit by the tram, though thankfully it managed to stop in time. He was moving, but it didn’t look good - his head was all bloody.
I used to think it must be fun as hell to ride the garbage truck like that. I don’t any more.
Yeah it can’t be a good job 😥
They make pretty good money though, I thinknafyer a while younstop smelling the smells.
Look, these are professional people doing a serious, professional job.
*wheeee!!!*
