So AI is going to write our books, compose our music, create our art, and now also play video games for us? What are we doing?

Right? It defeats the whole purpose of playing a game for me.

If you take away friction or obstacles, how would it not be boring as hell?

In GTA 5 there’s a famous spot on a mountain where, if you call a taxi to come pick you up and drive you away, the AI really struggles to stay on the road. It’s actually really fun to see how far it gets.

      https://www.offroadxtreme.com/news/game-watch-gta-v-wild-off-road-taxi-adventures/

I can see this new thing being fun in a sense that you put the game into a really weird or unwinnable state and watch the AI struggle to correct it.

To each their own, of course, but for stuff like that, I rather watch recorded vids of people finding out and demoing these glitches.

What’s the point of a game I start and then it plays itself?

We are automating not only the production of art, but the consumption of art as well.

What the actual fuck are we doing, honestly.

It’s like we’re intentionally edging ourselves out of being needed. It’s straight out of scifi.

I have wanted the steam remote couch co-op to work on any game so you can take over for that one spot making your friend rage quit but not like this

If they actually start doing this game devs should add achievements that are basically impossible for AI but not so bad for humans. Then you can check who used AI to play their video games

You know had that shit in Resident Evil 5 and that bitch AI made it fucking difficult to finish. She would steal all the ammo and health items and you couldn’t get back from her. Learn later it was built for co op play. But goddammit I bet that game solo sort of. Fucking AI.

It’s like the story is more important than the game being fun. Simple game dev arrogance. If I wanted to watch hype action I would watch a movie.

Damn… it’s nearly 10 years since the last moron games executive tried to give us a “sense of pride and accomplishment”.

This next-gen version is really stretching the limits of those terms…

No, it isn’t. Stop believing the hype.

(Note the “could” in the headline, and I thank whoever wrote it - most aren’t that discerning)

Unless they meant the other meaning of AI - actually Indians - then it’s already happening.
