Used to be, DOJ didn’t have to do that because they had massive numbers of excessively qualified applicants climbing over each other to apply.
A federal judge can fine every lawyer that worked on any part of this $5000 a day until they quit the DoJ or the judge has the files in hand. That’s civil contempt and there isn’t a fucking thing the DoJ can do about it.

No chance they do it now. They’ll do it when Trump is likely already dead, if (and only if) a proper democrat and congress comes into power, and when the sentiment tides signifigantly shift.
