Literally, every time Musk says anything in your own field (mine are UX design and programming), you immediately realise he’s a dumbass who knows nothing about anything and is literally bullshitting his way to the top, paraphrasing smarter people without understanding what he’s saying, and just declaring himself a genius.

Thankfully I learnt this very early because he bullshitted about my field pretty early on. Everyone seems to get there eventually, the more industries he claims expertise in.

When questioned about Twitter, he didn’t even know the difference between front-end and back-end on coding. He has done code before at Ebay (it was all re-written by others before deployment), but he should know that and yet it is completely lost on him.

I’m not convinced he coded at eBay. I think he did some markup, which was not coding. That feels like code to someone who doesn’t know what coding is.

Funny, though, that this issue with cooling problems is a long known issue in all things space. This should be obvious to anyone who has seen the cooling fans (infrared radiator plates) of the ISS. And they try to be very, wery careful with creating waste heat.

Maybe Elon should ask someone who actually knows something about space instead of an AI. I mean, this guy has a f-ing company that sends rockets into space. Someone there must be capable to do an ELI5 on that topic, so even Elon can understand it.

He doesn’t want to understand it. He wants to break through it and some sleazy and/or desperate engineers are telling him everything he wants to hear. They understand that it’s impossible but they also understand that if they don’t cater to his fragile ego they’ll be looking for a new job and no job will ever pay more.

Elon legitimately believes that nothing is impossible because his entire life he’s been able to pay other people to fix his problems for him and he can’t handle the idea that he’s not the most special important smartest boy.

I think we will see those small things, basically a single server rack with huge solar panels and cooling radiators. Some companies are really motivated to burn someone’s money for that and it is somewhat realistic to pull off, even with the big challenge of cooling. At the same time it also makes zero economic sense and has next to no computing power to even a small datacentre back on earth.

everything else he just bought, kicked the original owners out, and gag ordered them, so he can take all the credit.

There is a very clear line you can see in their cars between the stuff that had the founders Eberhard and Tarpenning working on it, and the stuff that Musk as had a hand in. The original Roadster, and the S/Y/3/X range are all based on the original design and engineering team. Then you see the Musk lineup, Cybertruck, Semi, Cybertaxi, “Flying”-Roaster.

The desperation is starting to become very apparent, just waiting for the final merge between Tesla and Space X and to have the entire company renamed X.

I honestly think saying that Tesla’s are good cars is glazing him too much to be honest. They’re basically the iPhone of cars. That’s not an endorsement by the way that’s condemnation I fucking hate iphones. The best thing that Elon musk could be argued to have done is to make people realize that EVS are viable.

Ok, these are the only two good points to Musk;s name.

Yes, he did do a decent job of kick starting EV’s again even if it was by crushing down the founders for narcissistic reasons.

Secondly, he did generally tend to have a decent eye for enabling some design details (pre-cyber truck era). He did at least push them to move car design a little further on the original few models, you know the ones that actually sell decent numbers.

Beyond that, there isn’t much good to his name.

You’re totally allowed to hate iPhones (I’m not arguing otherwise), but iPhone hardware is way better built than Tesla cars. I don’t think it’s fair to compare the two quality-of-build-wise.

But he did that by bribing himself into being called a founder of an electric car company that already existed and already had the plan for initial growth before his arrival.

His main contribution to EV adoption is a negative one; the years delay the rollout of tesla’s dowmarket models because of his insistence the doors of the model X must open upwards.

      Depends on context.

If we’re talking purely car wise they are pretty decent. The build quality is a bit iffy sometimes but the ride experience is decent.

If we’re factoring in price then no. It costs like 40 to 50k USD and even with rebates and ev programs thats way too expensive. Should be closer to 20k to 30k IMO, especially since BYDs would cost around that if they could be sold in the US (probably never happening though)

If we’re including branding baggage of elon then doubly no cause my god that guy is an idiot. He could’ve been the Tony Stark of the tech world back in 2017 or so when everyone thought he was a decent person, but I guess it’s too hard to hide his true colors

Pretty much. As a car they are fine, they have some nice touches but overall they are a solid 6 out of 10. Introduce the factor of who you fund by buying them and they become a 0 out of 10 car.

They are pretty good in manufacturing quality terms, but they are too expensive. They are hooked on autonomous driving features which consumers rightfully don’t care about. Outside of diver assistance in highways, they’re gimmicks to show you’re friends once. They also suffer from poor repairability (though they are starting to improve their processes that will help starting in five years or so).

Data-centers in space was only pitched as an idea so they could pave the path to a SpaceX buyout of xAI/Twitter. This is the same reason they put rockets on the Roaster, so they have a “legitimate” reason to merge Tesla and Space X.

It is all just financial shuffling.

Fundamentally, he should have been broke several times over now but somehow he manage to form and merge a few hundred companies over the course of 20 years in just the right way that it makes him still walk free. It cannot last forever but it has lasted WAY longer than it should have.

All of the public ones do try to pretend to be super smart scientists and engineers and health experts. Like, Bill Gates likes to pretend that he’s super interested in physics and that he wishes he could do more to contribute to the field, but that Epstein-associating childfucker is a fucking billionaire. He could literally hire the world’s leading physics experts and teachers to train himself in physics. He could become a fucking expert so fucking easily, but, to be fair, he’s probably too busy with child rapists to bother.

Every billionaire you see in the news tries to look like a genius instead of the lucky heartless monsters they actually are because they love being idolized instead of doing real fucking work.

They are sociopaths and that is obvious, but Elon the sly fuck pretended that his social ineptitude was because he was a genius engineer, and it was what everyone was instructed to say about him. If anything, a scientist has less time to research random celebrities. It’s not about intelligence. It’s not like a barrier that prevents deception like in the movies.
