Has anyone here actually had a real IQ test? They’re administered by psychologists and it takes like 2-3 days of different tests. No one doing any online test is doing a real IQ test. Not that they’re the end all be all for intelligence anyways.

My IQ test done through school came back with super high results. I’m 33 and work part time at a bakery while on my fourth year of a two year program. It doesn’t fucking matter.

He’s also “good at Diablo” or whatever it was. And “really smart about business.” And “really smart about rockets.” And blah blah blah. It’s all bullshit. Just listen to him. He can barely form coherent sentences.

I find it hard to believe someone can recognize patterns well enough to do well on an IQ test could also be so stupid as to not realize everyone hates him and just wants his money.

I mean for what its worth emotional intelligence (recognizing everyone hates you and just wants your money) is a whole different thing. That said, I’m pretty sure he’s just an idiot in general too. Maybe smarter than the average person, but certainly not three standard deviations smarter.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s actually just kind of dumb, but humans are really bad at recognizing patterns relating to ourselves. There’s a reason therapists see other therapists, for example.

When I was a kid I took a two-page IQ test in a Reader’s Digest and I got 125. It meant a lot to me.

Same! I still have the certificate!

(Although I would have got 129 if my sister, who couldn’t spell, kept insisting that “than” is spelt “then” and wouldn’t stop bugging me throughout the whole test until I changed it, even though I knew she was wrong. Yes I am still bitter about it today.)

I lack real world intelligence, so bog all use that test was.

the only thing it measures is how good you are at taking an IQ test

The axis need to be swapped.

the punchline is that if you pay for the iq test you are instantly considered stupid and if you bribe the iq test you get a high score. everyone in between won’t pay for an iq test

tbf, i paid for an IQ test because i needed the results to prove i’m capable of understanding my own gender in court. Pretty whack but i heard recently the laws in my country changed so i hope younger trans people won’t have to go through that humiliation

I think the same thing applies to Mensa. If you’re paying to join the “smart people club”, how smart are you really?

My local Mensa hosts a lot of fun events, the cost is minimal, and it replaces a social vacuum left by religious activities for me. A wide variety of people, most very nice, almost all pretty interesting. Also a pretty insular group of folks that doesn’t really ruffle any feathers, so I’ve always been a little unsure why Mensa gets such hate online.

Don’t most special interest clubs have some sort of barrier to entry? Is Mensa different because IQ tests are a touchy subject that has been used incorrectly by bad actors? I can promise you that there is no illusion of superiority amongst the mensans I’ve met, we’re all pretty on board with “we’re just good at the things that IQ tests measure” and if anything it just helps a lot of us apply some additional context and understanding to oftentimes difficult childhood memories. Just my two cents from the other side!

Yup. You can practice for it like any other test. There’s no way to score human intelligence, except anyone who talks about having high IQ, then you know they are unintelligent.

It’s very likely, tho honestly even if he had an iq of 300 i wouldn’t care if things he says will remain bullshit.

And who’s saying he’s got a high IQ? Presumably it’s just him saying he does, and he lies about everything else.

I bet his test results are a different scale, like imperial, but converted to normal metric standards he scores below average. Everything he says and does shows he really wants people to believe he’s smart and he’s willing to lie as much as needed to make people believe him, but he never actually shows anything of actual intelligence. On the contrary really.

      Musk never outgrew 8th grade.

He’s still in there, day in and day out, doing everything he can think of to try to get the other kids to think he’s cool, and still just making himself look like that much more of a creepy, pathetic douchebag.
