These work fantastic in the Netherlands. A lot of times you can get to places faster on bike than in a car. The only problem is tourists who aren’t used to bikelanes and who keep walking across them without checking if a cyclist is coming their way

Yes and there’s your problem. Instead of building a proper political system you just keep voting for tyrants all the while burning others because they voted on the wrong tyrant.
