    1. You are not a danger to them. Why would they react with urgency to a non-threat?

    2. You are speaking a human language — not cat language. Attempting to speak on their level will yield results.

Cats are not dogs. Why do people get so snooty that most cats won’t jump at their every command?

It’s like people try to misunderstand cats. Drives me up the fucking wall.

(yes, I’m aware it’s just a silly meme, but I’m so tiiiiiired of people being so smug about cats being “bad”/“dumb” pets compared to dogs. The difference is that people are accustomed to dogs doing everything they want them to do. That’s fucking weird)

Being a loving cat owner myself, this was not the message I wanted to send. I’m sorry if it came across as such. I know when she wants attention she will let me know, and I give it to her then. It really was only meant to be a silly meme.

No no no! I know it’s just a silly meme. I just get bristle-y when I see commenters being all “haha yes cat stupid dog good”, which I’ve seen in other posts.

First out-loud chuckle of the day. Though we’re constantly whispering to each other that the kitties have their ears turned towards us as they pretend to ignore us. They think we don’t know.

Your cats choose to listen to you.

Anyone who’s had cats for a long time notice how they are basically like teenagers; They love you and hear you(and have scientifically been shown to reckognize their names, and ignore them), but they like to be alone and ignore you a lot of the time unless they want something. But they will also come running and show affection if they’re the mood for that.

There are some who are more attached and more likely to come running, but generally they’re just a bit independent.

Even when you’re not holding the can of tuna?

Mine also listen, they just choose not to obey when they’re cozy.

Lola and Oliver are very strange cats, they listen to whatever I say but they will ignore what everyone else says

Pffff, my dog has more, and he’s working out daily.

He can hear the fridge being opened from a mile away though, and while asleep.
