“Let them not eat cake!”
J’ai des rêves de expulser toute l’administration tout de suite
Geez, talk about out of touch with the average Joe.
No man, Yesterday I only didn’t eat 3 cakes and I was able to run a 12 mile drive to work… In my car! The other weekend I didn’t eat a wedding cake and that cured my diabetes that In didn’t even have!
He needs to open a history textbook book.

I input my PIN number into the LCD display of the ATM machine.

Let them eat less cake!
Funnily enough, just had an exchange with someone here about doctors needing to always be empathetic towards their patients so they can’t say “get fucked, fascists” and such.
Dr. Oz is a still practicing (to maintain his license) cardiovascular surgeon.
he needs to upkeep the image that he can sell snakesoil to the plebs. its the same thing “llmd” for the fake disease “chronic lyme” sells pseduoscience to patients, they are even more dangerous oz.
Qu’ils mangent de la brioche !

We have never not needed these.
We just forgot that they are required.
I’m sure the French could give us some pointers though.
We should just start building guillotines and placing them in town squares. Just as, like, a message.
I got banned from the r-place for saying something like this.
Carry on.
Some of the lemmy.world moderators come down hard on “calling for violence”. It’s kind of an eye roller
Job market is tough right now. Gotta advertise those carpentry skills!
How has that piece of shit not lost his title? Stop calling that imposter a Doctor.
Have Dr Phil and Dr Oz ever had a fake doctor-off? It can be judged by Judge Judy and Bill Nye.
i forgot if he got a PHD in psychology, or just a normal as degree, if he is he isnt a real DR. oz is a MD that pratices pseudosciene, the MD just give them air of legitimacy when he sells his snakesoil as a quack.
Dr Phil actually has a PHD or master’s (can’t remember which) in psychology, but if I remember right he’s had his license to practice either removed or he hasn’t done the due diligence on his part to maintain it. I can’t remember which. Apparently he also did a lot of sketchy shit with his clients including forming relationships with them prior to his time on TV. Behind the Bastards did a multi-part series on him that’s worth listening to.
The worst part about Dr. Oz is that he was an exceptionally skilled thoracic surgeon, apparently one of the best in a field we are severely lacking skilled practitioners in, and has done hundreds of operations. This is a man who has saved or extended hundreds of lives. He then gave all of that up to sell bullshit weight loss miracles to middle-aged moms. He literally stopped saving lives so he could actively harm others with his bullshit and questionable advice outside of his realm of expertise.
I’d argue that Oz has done more direct harm to people on a larger scale than Dr. Phil could dream of. Again, there is a multi-part series on Behind the Bastards covering him that’s worth a listen.
Time out, why the hate for Bill Nye? Did I miss something or is this just a joke on “people who are less qualified than their titles lead you to believe”? If so, then carry on.
On first read it sounds more like a list of shitty charlatans, of which I wouldn’t really apply to Bill even if he’s not as qualified as he would imply.

I would say, pleasantly, that Bill Nye suffers from one of the classic blunders of academia. Just because you’re smart about one specific niche subject in one specific niche field doesn’t mean you are smart about every subject in every field. Most scientists are quite honestly just as knowledgeable as the rest of us in any field that they didn’t academically study. That sounds like common sense, but once you have a PhD on your name you kind of forget it.
Bill Nye is an expert mechanical engineer, and a middling to decent planetologist. Any subject beyond that and he’s just as good as you or me even though he speaks with an authoritative voice.
I felt like he started in the tradition of Mr. Wizard, who himself was a teacher who didn’t know the intricacies of every science, but knew how to put together a fantastic and accurate demonstration.
But I think Nye is doing talk shows and shit now, which Mr. Wizard, I don’t think, would have tried to sell himself the same way. He really sold education.
it often collabs with neil degrass sometimes, or in the past.
Maybe that’s just because I haven’t seen anything from him super recently, so my opinion is biased with rose tinted glasses. What little Ive seen of him he seemed like an alright dude. Then again, that’s easily a tailored image of himself.
A lot of people claim to have had negative interactions with him in the wild, but I haven’t seen any proof yet. I’ve very suspicious that someone’s who educates about the dangerous of climate change has this much hearsay against them. I’ve also heard he gets a lot of off topic questions when he does talks and gets impatient with people. He doesn’t actually claim to be a scientist and if he gets questions that he didn’t prepare for, he’s not going to be able to give good answers.
In regards to the off topic question thing; that just sounds like a fairly normal person. I feel like anyone could get annoyed by being asked constantly about non-relevant stuff. Sure, some folks are very good at handling those things with grace and should be applauded for it, but I feel like that’s a noteworthy exception and not how most folks would react depending on the severity of course.
Phil McGraw is downright, possibly a toxic man to be taking any advice from. There have been longstanding allegations that drugs (maybe alcohol too) have been given to guest on his talk show before taping, while those on medications allegedly have had them withheld before taping. That is on top of the typical toxic workplace behavior that has been reported with similar type of environments.
Mary Antionette: “Let them eat cake.”
“Dr.” Oz: “Let them stop eating cake.”
Another notch for “The Age of Irony” in American History. “Let them eat less cake” sounds like a good opener too.
Gall stones? Cancer? Parkinsons? Broke your arm? In a car crash?
Eat less cake, peasants.
Modern “Let them eat cake.”
These people are so fucking out of touch.
This is somehow worse, the “let them eat cake” was said from a very out of touch person who just did not understand. While this is comming from someone who willingly is going out of their way to blame the peasants for the actions that they are doing to those same peasants.
He is completely wrong, while being right too. Americans could benefit from a better diet.
Maybe the American government could provide proper health care and not support junk food industry.
people arnt eating cake 24/7, hes just being extremely ignorant out of touch like the rest of the gop, and he ons the grif ttoo.
He is completely wrong, while being right too. Americans could benefit from a better diet.
Yes. Let’s actually put some reigns on the food industry, sugar in bread is not normal. Also walkable places that have public transport, but the Auto and Food industries have the Government of America by the short and curlies.

Sadly, yes, living a healthier lifestyle is going to be a person’s best option in the wake of health care being even more enshittified.
Hard to do in a nation where there are food deserts, gym memberships a luxury, and the nearest health care provider is upwards of 50 miles away.
This, to me, stinks of the same garbage people are fed about recycling, when we all know that it’s the billionaire class and their institutional, astronomical waste and energy usage that is the real problem, not individuals tossing out the dozen soda cans they drink in a week.
In my opinion this is why unhealthy foods should be taxed to all fuck and back. Don’t want to spend money on healthcare, tax what’s making people unhealthy. Then with that extra dosh maybe you could fund healthcare a little more. Unfortunately there is no population on earth who’d accept their luxuries being taxed like that.
Thanks?
yeah taking out the grain subsidies and moving them over to fruit and veg based on lowness of sugar content and highness of fiber and nutrient content. That might be something to do.
I get what you’re going for here, but the lowness of sugar isn’t really all that important if we’re talking whole fruits.
Mangos for example would be considered high in sugar, but I would argue they shouldn’t be discriminated against in comparison to something like an apple. Mangos are also quite filling compared to something like a candy or juice of similar calorie content just like other lower calories fruits such as apples or strawberries.
Potatoes and other starchy vegetables could potentially get a bad wrap too for similar reasons.

To bad americans don’t have balls like the French.
Oui oui
If we’re taking the French citizenry I agree.
I want to have my cake and Medicaid too.
