It’s actually the second thing I thought: he was sacrificed at the demonic altar of American fascism. Our only hope (“our” meaning humanity as a whole), from my POV, is that America and Western Europe as a whole collapse internally so the rest of the world can rebuild knowing full well this morally relativistic, sociopathically selfish, hedonistic and consumerist half-baked set of ideas we call “Western culture” (which has reached it’s logical conclusion in the US, ofc) is in opposition to the survival and eudaimonia of the human race.
