Yayy everyone worship our new Neoliberal darling!

Watch as he is painted to be the only hope of a dying country despite being controlled opposition.

    The DNC needs to die

Is there somewhere we can go that isn’t invaded by sycophantic corpo-Dem bootlickers? I’m really tired of them acting like everything is fine as long as they vote D and demonize any opposing opinion.

I just wish the Left put half the effort into politics and coalition-building that they put into ideological purity-testing.

It’s embarrassing how much better the Right is at playing politics and it’s a huge factor in why they are taking so much ground.

        What?

They needed to keep the government shut down until they extracted something of value for the American people you fucking idiot.

It’s not hard to understand how the dems folding like tissue paper when their voters told them NOT TO was a stupid move.

not disagreeing but I’d rather the gop dies first. I’m no newsome fan but it would make OUR jobs so much easier to fight against his neoliberal shit takes than these all out fascist ones.

The dems are awful, but Biden dropping out does at least show that with enough pressure, they will respond (or cave, I mean it’s in their nature). This administration only cares about themselves, they see the rest of us as their peasants.

I don’t think one can exist without the other. They depend on each other to maintain power.

If there was a people’s party that actually forced the rich to make concessions, there wouldn’t be a contest.

I agree on all counts. I just think to get that party, we’ve got to get rid of the current ones. I’ve always been one to tackle the biggest challenge up front so my focus is still on the gop, but make no mistake, dems need to go too, at least the vast majority.

Thankfully there are folks working from the inside otherwise NYC would have turned out different. Honestly, their weakness means it’s an easier one to take back. I don’t care if the party names remain, but the power structure inside them needs to be gone yesterday.

I would love for the republicans to be gone so it would feel “safe” voting 3rd party, but i genuinely think the two parties keep each other alive so people hold out hope that one of them might one day do something good for people, but they are just taking up space where the real political parties would otherwise live.

I agree, but in truth I don’t believe Americans will support a third party unless we make it the gentlest, easiest transition possible. IMHO ranked choice is the only way we could get true third party support. And, that’s just one more at that point, we’d need them both out.

Sadly, most of this country is so disengaged from politics. It’s a team sport to most people, and let’s be honest, an expansion franchise without a fanbase will be next to impossible to successfully launch (my sportsball metaphors are weak).

No you don’t understand, you see putting Democrats in power - the one immediate useful thing we can do to stop obvious in-the-street-and-in-our-face fascism - is bad.

I mean, AOC might be okay for a few minutes, but that’s about it.

        What are you, the bourgeoise!!?

No, it’s an example of us having been on this ride before so we recognize the setup. It’s going to be yet another round of “now isn’t the time for progressives” even though anything else is just slower fascism.

A Newsom presidency would be better than Republicans, sure, but it’s going to continue the slide into fascism just like every neoliberal power grab does. We don’t need perfect, but a neoliberal doesn’t count as good.

You wouldn’t be voting for Newsom. You’d be voting AGAINST fascism. I really don’t know why this lesson hasn’t been learned yet. You don’t let the cancer take the body because you don’t like chemo.

You take the chemo and live to fight the cancer.

And we have never in history- been on this ride before. EVER. It’s just that you all like to apply bad logic like this to justify not doing your part to help.

It’s easy to anonymously pass judgement on others online to an audience of people that will agree with you. I mean, look around. Nuanced thought at discussion is frowned upon here. But doing the actual work??

All we see from the third party candidates is only a small window of a few months during election years when they promise a bunch of shit they have no authority to follow through with- or even validate with an actionable plan- then, when they lose, they turn to vapor. And then you all wonder why no one is willing to elect them.

The dems may be ineffective in the fight against tyranny, but at least they’re visible.

What is Jill Stein up to? Anyone heard from Cornell West? No? Well…. There ya go.

So this is what we have. And this is what we need to support if it’s all we have. Want your little grassroots movement to make a splash? Pick someone with the balls to stick around when they lose.

Until then, the far left is neutered and irrelevant in the political spectrum and needs to not be taken seriously until they’re ready to take shit seriously and do the fucking work.

Now go ahead and rally behind all of your downvotes. It won’t change the fact that nothing I said is untrue.

Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously, this statement boils my blood. Fuck you and your fascism-enabling. We’ve been on this ride continuously for 9 fucking years because of assholes like you. We JUST saw it in action with the Democratic Party thinking we were idiots who would buy that only the exact right number of senators happened to flip. They’re willfully complicit and even though I have voted Dem every presidential election, I no longer will and you are a part of that. I’m sick and tired of neoliberal bootlickers like you excusing this farce of a party.

In fairness, I didn’t read past the first sentence. So… when you can calm down and discuss this like a mature and rational adult, I’ll explain what you misunderstood.

You’re what’s wrong with the Democratic base. You are actively hurling this country into fascism because you don’t care what happens as long as you feel morally superior.
