I have two favorite Thanksgiving pies. Apple pie (especially warmed up later with a scoop of vanilla ice cream) And a chocolate pie my mom used to make with flaky crust and real whipped cream on top.

Yeah, after my mom told me about having to use the pee can at night to avoid going to the outhouse when visiting her mountain relatives…
I just can’t hear people say pee can pie without remembering her obviously very visercal memory of realizing what she had to do.
Her parents and her lived in a house with indoor plumbing in the “city” so it was a bit of culture shock. And her storytelling implanted a core memory for me.
