I want to attach a picture of that aweful burned heritage turkey they ate from the sink, but can’t find it. The whole family is like “this is the best turkey ever”.
Everyone loved your turkey?
Did it get a good stuffing?
You spatchcocker you
Not to be pedantic, but I’m pretty sure the turkey wasn’t too fond of it.
The turkey was ethically raised and harvested by a local farmer. I know that’s not as ethical as raw veganism obviously, but in fairness there is no ethical consumption under capitalism so I strive to exploit shit “less”. I will not, for instance, support the commercial fishing industry and I won’t eat factory farmed meat. That turkey had a pretty good life for a turkey, it was safe from non-human predators, it always had enough to eat, and the farm is huge with plenty of space to range. Even in death it’s sacrifice fed an entire family and nothing got wasted, which is more than most human beings do.
As for pedantry… it was already processed and lacked the awareness to be fond or not fond of anything 😉

and his name was Gregory.
He preferred “Greg”. Only his wife (now his widow) called him Gregory.
Did you make it that way just to say it?
Jokes aside glad they loved it. Gfs dad did one like this and it was juicy as fuck.
Yes 😂
That looks amazing and I bet it tasted just as good.
For anyone wondering if it looks terrible … just because it doesn’t look pretty doesn’t mean it tastes bad. This type of cooking ensures everything is cooked through evenly and at the same rate.
We did the same with a chicken on the pellet grill. Delicious.
It really is a much better way to cook it. That looks great amigo, I hope it was delicious.
I have started fully breaking is down and separating the wings and drums, then spatchcocking the rest so I can get each part cooked just to their respective done-ness. It also helps it fit in my grill…
I cook everything on a 22" Weber, this pretty much maxed it out. I will probably break it down a little more next year, legs at least
That bird doesn’t look very well
I carefully only source turkeys that died of suicide.
There was gravy, right? 🥺
Does this hurt the turkey?
Well it had already passed away
So…?
Vag cocked… I mean, spadgecocked.
Spatchcocked is the way. Next time put that on top of a deep cast iron pan full of dressing or roasted veg.
