Voyager variant of a classic:

VOY s7e9 “Flesh and Blood”
Admittedly, Ensign Ricky’s fate isn’t shown on screen. However, after Paris beams out with the lone Hirogen survivor, Seven shuts down the simulation which leaves her, Chakotay, Tuvok, and stray bodies… no Ricky.

Didn’t even give him the courtesy of a glorious death.
Huh, this begs the question: did Voyager acquire enough new crew members to maintain a constant population?
Janeway learned a trick or two from O’Brien before leaving for the Badlands. Buffered backups.
Couldn’t they use this to make a clone army?
No… that would be unethical.

They were saddled with duplicate Kim since season 1.
This website has a tracker for the Voyager population. Not sure of the accuracy since there is no mention of poor “Ensign Ricky”.

Ensign Ricky is just a placeholder for whichever sad sap gets zapped next.

This list (and this site in general) is certainly a sign of someone with deep psychosis, but I love that someone did the math all the same. Lol
The wiki with the chairs on Star Trek is way better for that minute detail nerd cred.
Now that’s a dedication to Nerdiness that the Web used to reek of! Thank you for linking to that.
I would challenge their final paragraph about medical staff. Given the length of time Voyager was traveling, I’d expect at least one or two members to learn at least some medical skills to augment sickbay. They might be official medical staff, but any sideways references to a ‘team’ or pluralized sickbay could be easily handled by anyone who crash coursed into it.
I would also like to see the square meters per Voyager crew member. The ship had tons of space to go around.
They did get some of the Equinox crew at one point, I’m sure that helped
6 from Equinox, Seven, Neelix, and Kes (but only 'til early season 4 plus an extra appearance). The rest from the buffer as needed.
Didn’t they get some ex-Borgs as well, like Icheb?
The other kids left shortly after. And as for Icheb… well, the less said the better. Justice for Icheb!
Don’t forget about all the Maquis.
I count them from the get go, but fair.
Kinda like in recent Trek series where, when an episode begins with a day in the limelight of a non-main character, it’s basically their eulogy.
- DIS: Lt.
MiriamAiriam. Stupid autocorrect. - SNW: Ensign Gamble
At least with SNW, he was a new character. DISCO dropped the ball (I know, I know, into the buffer) at any attempts to flesh out characters beyond the core 5 or so. Sudden backstory is always a death sentence.
std was a pretty bad series, other than michelle yeoh anthony rapp, the others arnt that notable
- DIS: Lt.

And the shuttlecrafts.
Just once I would have loved for them to inverse the dynamic and the rando redshirt is the only one to make it back and we spend the whole episode with them trying to reset it and saving everyone.
Yeah, and then they die, sacrificing themselves to bring back the rest of the crew, thus showing the futility of not being main cast.
I like that even better
Well I like your username!
What? Your Mom buy you a 'puter for Christmas?
She did! And it’s insanely great, it’s got a 28.8bps modem!
I don’t know how Harry manages to avoid these assignments. He should have died ages ago.
He did… in season 2. We only see Phase Shift Harry from s2e21 “Deadlock” onward.
Edit: also briefly silver blood Harry in s5e18 “Course Oblivion,” but that’s another sad story altogether.
Harry also died on season 1, where they find the planet that’s basically a burial site.
Emanations VOY S1E9
so not only can he not rank up but he isn’t allowed to die either 🤣
😂😂
Let’s get out of here before one of those things kills ensign Ricky!
___Is there air? YOU DON’T KNOW!
Ricky needs the Roc Ingersol upgrade.
