This is what happens when MAGA decides to actively, GLEEFULLY, strip voting protections from Black people.

As it turns out, black people really, truly appreciate their voting rights, because they fought so hard to get them. White people don’t care, their voting rights have never been an issue, they’re just handed to them at birth. But black people still have to fight for their basic right to vote. So restrict and suppress those rights, and they’ll just show up in massive numbers to crush you.

One of MAGAs stupidest traits is that they only understand naked power, and they think that’s all that matters. They think they will pound their enemies with one blow, and that will be the end. They are always surprised that’s there’s a response, often one that is stronger and more effective. Everything will be over in a day, and then it’s not.

These MAGA Morons thought that by gerrymandering these blue/ black districts out of existence, it would also eliminate their votes, but that’s not how it works. They still vote, but now their voting from inside a previously safe red district, and that’s how flips happen.

More virtuosic incompetence from MAGA. Count on it every time.

I don’t think it’s that white people don’t care; there’s an assumption though that they think being born is how they get to vote, when in reality the first American voters where only the wealthiest landowners, and enough time has passed that it’s not as easily passed down by generations as a cautionary tale against the rich and powerful.

Looks like young people are breaking off the “white man knows better” mentality their parents were propagandized into.

I always thought it sus that so many southern states with large black populations had very few black politicians.

    It always reeked of interference.

Glad to see the tides are turning.

I grew up in Georgia and left in my 20s. It is very much interference. Old plantation money runs the rural south.

Never forget that Brian Kemp abused his position as Secretary of State to commit election interference and steal his gubernatorial election.

As Secretly of State, he oversees gubernatorial elections. He chose to do this by violating the law by invalidating voter registrations within two weeks of the election. He did this by throwing out registrations where people’s government name didn’t match the name on their registration paperwork. So, if your name is “Deshawn” but your registration paperwork says “Shawn”, for exaple, it got thrown out. Weirdly, there were many examples of people named “William” but their paperwork saying “Bill” that weren’t thrown out. Same with Charles/Chuck and James/Jim.

    Weird, huh?

A case was presented to the District Attorney who reviewed it and declined to press charges.

Now, I’m not going to say that I distrust white people. I will say that, give a choice between an old white man and a middle-aged black woman with the identical qualifications, I’m picking the middle-aged black woman 10 times out of 10.

This tracks with my experience living in the deep south. Most white people in the deep south see the Democratic party as the black party and the GOP as the white party.

It really is that simple to them.

They’re not far from wrong. Black people in the south vote Democrat about 80% of the time. White people in the south vote Republican about 80% of the time. The political system in the South, with its gerrymandered districts, biased media, and “good ol’ boy” system is basically a giant black voter suppression machine.

Only if by diversity you mean black, which some people do. I googled it and Atlanta is not the most diverse city in the US by any metric.

I misspoke with my hyperlatives. I meant “in the top 1% of most diverse cities based on the probability that two residents picked at random belong to different racial, ethnic, or religious groups per the us census” - which is what I was misremembering.
