there are other organizations that have been good substitutes, and the far right wing wants to say their specific church (you know the one) should be The Organization, but like my local library has so many great groups and clubs and ect ectect. if people simply show up it can be a great little community on its own.
This is why organizations are so damn important, and why the decline of unions has been so damaging to US political culture.
