Donald Trump said Friday his administration will take action on Greenland “whether they like it or not,” further escalating his rhetoric as he pushes to acquire the Danish territory for the U.S.

The comments came during a meeting with oil executives to discuss the prospect of doing business in Venezuela. Less than a week earlier, the U.S. military invaded the oil-rich South American nation and captured its leader, Nicolás Maduro.

Denmark and its European allies in NATO – the military alliance co-founded by the U.S. – have pushed back, reiterating that Greenland is not for sale. But the Trump administration nevertheless says it is currently weighing a range of options on Greenland, including utilizing the U.S. military or cutting a deal to purchase it from Denmark.

This is what makes Putin very happy despite losses in Ukraine and some Russian domestic uncertainty.

He really wants to achieve the impossible, to distinguish himself from Brezhnev: defeat the West without even firing a shot.

The important thing about Greenland is that less than 1% of the Epstein files were released by the deadline.

So quick question, why allow them to keep their military base? They’re clearly hostile, time to pack up and leave.

Either Europe’s politicians are still deluding themselves that the USA could be an ally against Russia, or it’s a case of no one wanting to move first and be the first the USA targets for economic and social destruction.

EU politicians did switch to a “don’t feed the troll” stance on Trump. Flattery backfires because he sees that as weak. Taking sudden action works as a provocation in him. Best case they’re waiting him out and preparing quietly in the background.

When tariffs came in, I was hopeful they realised, finally, that they were dealing with a madman. However, they still negotiate as if he’s a rational actor. Express concern etc. Just like the Dems in the USA. He pays no heed to their comments or concerns. He only responds to power.

Tariff the shit out of USA tech. Stop buying USA weapons. Start allowing Ukraine to attack inside Russia. Cut off their supply of precious metals by working with Australia and Denmark (Greenland).

Show them you mean business by reducing tariffs on china in return for Chinese concessions. Start really penalisong any European or American companies that still do business in Russia.

Its mind boggling that they are doing practically nothing concrete.

I’d be looking at their recent declaration about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Cut them where it hurts his chances in the mod terms. Affordability all the way. He’s very much a let them eat cake kind of guy. But with big Macs.

If Europe had fought Russia over the Ukraine, this wouldn’t be on the table. It’s clear to the world Europe won’t fight, even to defend their own backyard, so here we are.

To be clear, I fucking hate it. I have been screaming for Europe to fight back since day one, all while it was clear America was half-assing the fight. But they didn’t, the fascists gauged the reaction, now they feel free to strike.

“I would like to make a deal, you know, the easy way. But if we don’t do it the easy way, we’re going to do it the hard way,” Trump said at the White House.

Many have outlined Trump’s mafia-style speech. Like the truly wealthy, the mafia is a group he admires, was never allowed into, wants to imitate.

It’s so clear I want to scream. The US watched the man make a fool of himself in the 80s and 90s, he was tabloid trash. Even The Apprentice made fun of his bombastic nature, but apparently neither Trump not his fans were in on the joke.

How many children in the 1980s were acutely aware of Trump? I imagine very few. You’re talking about people who were in their twenties and older in the 1980s. And if you were 25 in 1984, you were 65 in 2024. A lot of the electorate is simply too young to remember Trump in his 1980s incarnation. And while older voters do vote at higher rates, the difference is massively overblown.

You just described me. I’ve known he was an insufferable putz since the 80s. By the 90s, I was seeing articles in the NY Times about money laundering for the Russian Mob. I was shocked they’d give him a reality show, but that’s bar is extremely low.

Looking back from the perspective of a Millennial or younger, I realize that the first time they really saw him was when Mark Burnett decided to polish his image on The Apprentice, and make him campaign ready. They only saw a carefully crafted hologram of him, and his re-brand worked.

I’ve had people tell me that I’m stupid for not knowing that Trump has always been the “King of NYC,” and they still LOVE him there. I laugh whenever I hear that, because I’m a New Yorker-in-law, and I’ve been visiting and living in NYC for decades, and I know first hand that NYers despise him intensely. I’ve never heard a real New Yorker say anything good about him. New Yorkers have ALWAYS had a special, deeply-rooted hatred for him.

He was a showman in The Apprentice, isn’t that enough to disqualify him as the unserious, self-centered and money hungry person he is? Nvm rapey, pedo, racist, etc etc. America is just a country of stupid lost souls, that’s all.

I know right? The one thing that makes me upset is that both of his parents were not in great health and they both lived to be almost 100. While I don’t think Donny will make it to 100 there is always that small possibility.
