Police said Hudson was riding his bike on the sidewalk of Pacific Beach Drive around 3:45 p.m. When he crossed the alley near Ingraham Street, investigators said a 32-year-old woman struck him with her car while turning. For several seconds, the driver stopped, police said. Then she took off, running the boy over in the process.

I grew up there. People zoom down PB Drive with no regard for anyone. And people use the alleys to bypass traffic whenever they feel like. I also learned to ride my bike in an alley in PB, very common for kids to do so. I hope this woman gets tossed in jail for a very long time.

Once when I was young, I experienced a collision on my bike with a hoopty in a parking lot. I got skinned up but my bike wasn’t bent up, and the guy felt terrible. Put my bike in the trunk and took me home a few blocks away, apologizing the entire ride, and I’m not even sure who was at fault. Those days are long past. I guess.

I heard of a recent hit n run nearby that killed a pedestrian, guy left and returned, asking what happened. He’s scot free, didn’t even make the news.

Good thing the cameras did their job. If only there was a way to actually prevent busy highways next to housing. I have an idea! Remove Pacific highway since it basically ruins miles and miles of beach front real state.

It’s funny how even “wealthy” areas in USA are car dependent shitholes. People pay millions of dollars to walk out their door onto a highway… And they’ll fight against any improvement.

    happened to me once.

they saved probably 3 seconds off their commute for damaging a bycicle and almost ruining an arm.

i’m not usually a police state kinda person but i wish i was recording. escaping from accidents like this and not stopping to help can get you some juicy prison time in my country.
