What kind of useless article is this? We’ve had troll farms and social media bots operating for at least a decade now. This last campaign in the US saw a crapload of AI generated material. There is nothing new here.

If anything, this is good. It’ll put a bunch of those troll farm clowns out of a job. (Half serious)

Even the Fediverse sadly isn’t entirely safe from AI bots as they’ve been messing with Lemmy for a while now.

dang I wish someone could invent a decentralized social media platform where engagement isn’t rewarded over everything else and if one instance becomes infested with bots the others could defederate from it and it has 10x the moderator-to-user ratio of existing social media dang

AI agents to reshape public opinion in a way that threatens to undermine democracy

I‘ve never understood the weird total helplessness of pro-democracy people here, can’t we, and in particular politicians simply flood the zone with pro-democracy contents too? AI, bots and outsourcing are cheap and available to everyone…

      No.

Right wing memes are short and appeal to biased worldview. Reality is nuanced and complex. You can’t fit that in a meme.

You can flood the internet but no one’s going to bother to read it.

      Basically this:

Except the original meme had n-word instead of ‘minorities’.

If you can’t make it appealing and simple, maybe you have some soul searching to do. While execution is usually complex, the basic ideas or sentiments are simple, and thus also suitable for „short attention span“. As an interesting example, the idea of complexity itself you’re describing, can be marketed in a simple way: are you smart or an easy to manipulate dum-dum? Create positive associations with double-checking, an identity around being smart, ridicule the gullible, make them feel genuinely embarrassed. It’s not so difficult.

I look forward to your campaign of changing hearts and minds, and turning the tide on the rise of global fascism then.

One of the core reasons neoliberalism inevitability leads to fascism and collapse is as an ideology it is entirely negative about the possibility of systematic forces of evil having any kind of systematic solution. All we can do is try to individually be better individuals ourselves and do our part.

In neoliberalism we are the noun and corporations, the ruling class, money, endless growth and unfettered greed are the verbs that change us. If we begin to organize and behave like a verb, neoliberalism acts with existential hostility and labels this “unnatural” in some way.
