Beautiful … we finally develop AI and instead of using it to find the cure for cancer, solve global warming, stop wars or find more efficient ways to build space stations and start development of spacecraft to travel to Alpha Centauri … we instead use it to build the Ultimate Racist Asshole

That was always going to be the main usage. We are inventing ever more powerful tools, but don’t grow as humans.

Ai might benefit humanity immensely in the right hands. But there are a massive amount of truly despicable people around.

Unfortunately, there is no mechanism to help people in our current system. We produce to profit the few and not the many.

Yep, any day now it’s gonna start being a boon for humanity, I just know it. I mean, now it wastes millions of gallons of drinking water, consumes our resources, destroys critical thinking skills, and supports hate and genocide, but any day now for sure it’s gonna be Jesus come to save us.

I never said it was Jesus just that it’s currently being used effectively in the fields of medicine, biology, and material science. I can’t do anything about gallons of water being used to generate bad art or do someone’s homework but the comment I replied to was saying “instead” lol.

You’re using the old definition of AI.

Machine learning is what used to be called AI, before they figured out that it wasn’t.

Now LLMs are AI, even though they’re not.

Machine learning and neural nets are fine, the current “AI” pushed on everything everywhere, is not fine.
