So I’ve been out all day and haven’t seen videos yet, but I didn’t know he was already disarmed. At that point what does it even matter that he had a gun, wtf. A gun has nothing to do with the murder.
Okay I got home and saw the video now. That’s fucking insane and straight up murder. Like why did they even shoot multiple times after the first shot, he was laying on the ground wtf.
Edit: Also same with with the Ross murder. That first shot, maybe he thought he was in danger even though he literally put himself in that danger through incompetence, but then he shoots her twice more when no longer in danger. The same thing happened here. I can’t tell what happened in that first shot, but the next shots, he was on the ground and no danger. Are they taught to triple shoot people if they shoot or something like wtf. Like leave no survivors?

You’re right. I found a different clip that shows he wasn’t cuffed. The original clip I saw it looked like they cuffed him while he was on the ground, He tried to stand up and they shot him, but I can’t see his hands.

The Americans get very upset when you point out what theyre doing isnt enough. Its like the myth of American exceptionalism will magically protect them from reality.
I get it because I used to be that way. I’ve hand-waved a lot in my life because I naively felt the swinging pendulum would balance things. I believed shit like good always prevails, taking the high-road will pay off, etc.
But as I dug into it more and learned more and saw more, it is undeniable what is actually happening. We’ve been on a bad path for a long, long time and the slow frog boil has duped many.
And because things are so far gone at this point, what used to appear to work won’t anymore. What comforts and conveniences some of us used to be able to somewhat hide behind no longer exists.
Sadly, I’m not sure a critical mass of people are ready to face and accept this reality. I’ll be honest, part of me barely is, but most of me knows the truth. I also know my line of work gives me the luxury of being able to care and take a step back sometimes - not everyone has that and it is purposely manufactured to be that way.
Im glad to hear this, honestly. I think people are taking it personally when people from other countries point it out but it isnt out of malice. We’re concerned for you and your country and instead of listening the overwhelming response has been to lash out. Its baffling from the outside perspective.
I think it’s mostly just fear. Like a fear-induced executive disfunction.
Reminding them “you need to get out and do something, you need to get out and do something, you need to urge your representatives to get out and fucking do something” sounds to them a lot like you’ve just tied a bungee to their waste and are telling them to jump off the bridge. And they’ve been afraid of heights their whole life, you know?
Unironically, we have too many sugary treats here for a meaningful resistance to mount yet. American’s lives need to get less comfortable before they (finally) start feeling like they have nothing to lose.

When I see police shootings like this, I always wonder how unarmed British cops would handle such a situation. I’m against defunding the police in general, but defunding their gun budget I think would go a long, long way.
I think removing their union protections (I’m a union member and I don’t think they should be afforded the same types of protections since they’re not labor, they’re the armed section of government who are the only ones allowed to use force on the citizens) and making them carry insurance would be a start. Then, moving their budget to do something about the fact that so many of their calls are to deal with mental health crises which they’re not trained for. Plus, for as large as their budgets are, I’d expect better results in solving crimes. Lots of police departments average something like 25% solve rate which includes things like when people turn themselves in.

Do ICE agents have radio systems? My observation is that many don’t. What happens if you manage to separate a couple of them?
Do they go outside to smoke when they’re at their hotels? Getting shot at on a smoke break seems pretty scary. What if ICE agents started to disappear?
What they want for their civil war is a character they can point to as a central villain. If agents get picked off and no one gets caught, they don’t have the character they need for the story they want to tell.
