Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

Democrats say they will not vote for a DHS spending bill when funding runs out unless there are “dramatic changes” at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal law enforcement agencies in the wake of the fatal shootings of two protesters in Minneapolis last month.

The Democratic leaders, Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, released an expanded list of 10 detailed proposals on Wednesday night for restraining Donald Trump’s aggressive campaign of immigration enforcement. Among the demands are a requirement for judicial warrants, better identification of DHS officers, new use of force standards and a stop to racial profiling.

So let it. They passed the last funding bill because it also included other departments, this is DHS by itself. Let’s see how many ICE show up for work when they stop getting paid.

I assume many of them do it just so they can legally terrorize people, so they may last longer than you’d think.

Don’t forget the abductions and rape. I’m sure majority of those fuckwards are doing it just for that. Organized chaos, purposeful unaccountability for everything, no records of who is where. Bastards the lot of them.

You mean the .ml dipshit with the hammer & sickle pfp voted for a notorious grifting 3rd party candidate rather than the only candidate that could have defeated Trump and wasn’t a fascist like he is?

Color me shocked and shooken /s

Hey, at least they get to virtue signal that they voted against genocide (their lack of meaningful participation objectively aided Trump, and he was/is FAR more genocidal than any Dem).

No, it’s mid terms this year. I’m just throwing shade at a known Jill Stein voter. Because you’re right. She is in her hyperbaric chamber for about another year. A complete joke of a candidate.

Lol who is fighting to fund DHS at all? Let it just remained unfunded until it dies. Like, what do the Dems lose by just refusing to support anything but 100% of the demands? 2/3 of the population is against ICE right now.

      Israel and billionaires.

      Unironically its Israel and billionaires.

Israel wants a fascist USA because they have total control over the entire GOP, and most establishment Dems, but they’ve lost popular support from Americans.

Billionaires want a fascist USA because they’ll own it. You see what they did in the Epstein Files released thus far? They want to do that to a whole country.

JFC keep it shut down, there’s no guarantee and no enforcement if DHS ignores those demands. Who is going to arrest them? Pam Bondi sure the hell won’t let the FBI touch them.

DHS comprises more agencies than just ICE, like FEMA, so that’s why I’m assuming they’re trying to “compromise.” That said, fuck it, DHS has always been an egregious consolidation of power and stain–and FEMA has been made totally useless anyhow.

I’m looking forward to it for more selfish reasons. Last time I flew they weren’t paying any TSA and it was such a pleasant airport experience. I have upcoming flights that I hope benefit similarly.

TSA is a worthless self-inflicted wound to the country. If I could fly on “I’ll Take My Chances” Air, I absolutely would just to reclaim my time from the security theater.

TSA is nothing but a false sense of security. As someone that used to work for aairline safely and security the true threats to airlines and air travel never come close to crossing paths with TSA

Honestly, TSA itself creates a huge terror target. If some latter-day Bin Ladin wanted to disrupt the air travel system through acts of mass violence? The airport security lines themselves are a huge target. IIRC there actually have been cases of terrorists attacking airport security lines. If you’ve ever been to a packed airport on a busy travel day, it should be obvious. Giant TSA line, hundreds of people packed in like cattle. What keeps someone from just wandering up with a bomb in their carry on and detonating it right there in the line? Nothing. And nothing can. You going to make people wait in a security line to get into the security line?

And in terms of actually disrupting the infrastructure of travel, disrupting society, the economy, etc., such attacks have impacts similar to blowing a plane out of the sky. How long is that airport going to be out of commission now that the mandated security line is now a mass crime scene?

Anyway, these are the darker thoughts I think in the back of my mind when stuck in an endless TSA line…

They are trying to push the save act. It’s basically a law to take away women’s right to vote. I kid you not.

They say it’s to make it so only u.s citizens can vote. But it states that name must match birth certificate. No exceptions.

Who often changes their name in our culture ?

It also takes voting away from people who became citizens but weren’t born here.

    Who doesn’t have a u.s.a birth certificate?
