Because it is cold and they are an invasive species. Please, if you are able, kill them.
That’s why I greased the trees.
I had no idea they weren’t native, I knew they were around the Caribbean and from Mexico to South America so I just naturally assumed they were within their normal range in Florida.
Our Thanksgiving tradition is to plink them with a pellet gun from the tree above my parents’ house in Key Largo. These and the Curly Tailed lizards have totally fucked up the ecosystem in the Keys.
I’ve heard iguana on a stick makes for a viable snack if bombs get dropped on everyone
Almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter
Quality shitpost.
The tails taste pretty good - yes I’m from hicksville, fl lol
I’ve had gator but not iguana. What’s it taste like? Chickeny?
Do you shovel the tails off the ground?
When I was a kid and we had a frost we would go collect them (most are not dead just sort of hibernating) - no shovels required!
You monster
Yeah, when it gets cold the trees shiver, and iguanas are too lazy to hold on tight so they slip and fall out.
Much as I don’t want to disturb your shitposting, the original news article I saw about this “phenomenon” linked to an amazing video.
The meaty thud it makes as it faceplants the pavement makes it all worthwhile.
