Lemmynsfw admin here, partially my fault but mostly not.
The other admin owned the server and the domain, suddenly he stopped responding, I started getting concerned and shit you not before all this happened I was planning on making a backup the weekend AFTER the site went down. But of course that never happened. That’s the part that’s my fault, I should have been backing things up ages ago.
The server is down, and I had access to the server, but not the platform it’s hosted on. One day the server just… turned off. Other admin isn’t responding and I have no way to get the data from the site.
I have access to, but don’t own the domain. So the plan now is to look into other hosting options, like the fedihost beta program, and spin up a Lemmy and/or piefed instance and redirect from the old domain to a new one I own. But yeah unfortunately it looks like the site as it was is dead :(

People rushing to log into their alts to declare anyone who participates in their secretly favorite communities is a degenerate so that whoever they think monitors their primary account might discover they are A Very Good Person:
As far as I can tell, one of the main selling points of lemmy is actually the ability to filter out all NSFW communities, which is better than reddit where they conflate “nsfw for porn” with “nsfw for a swear word or scary topic in this text post.”
If people want to express a dislike of porn or say “eh it’s bad for you so stop browsing there” then I don’t mind. Could just block them if it gets really excessive.

The issue was that the instance was running on a single server, run by one person, who pays for it out of pocket and doesn’t get any money back.
But my guess is, that’s true for all but the biggest instances.

I know it’s probably client related, but to block a sub on Jerboa I click the post, then click the sub, then I can block. Meanwhile, I’m clicking on posts of monster dongs, going to the sub dedicated to monster dongs, just to try to see fewer dongs. And so yeah, my gripe is with my client, but I’d love a long press, block sub, bing bang boom.
Same here. I block all kinds of communities, often just because they’re not relevant to my interests.
I wish I knew a way to block a community without having to visit that community first, directly from my front page where a post from that community is showing up.
