Garlic, butter, thyme, rosemary, bay leaves, onions, shallots, and basil.

Any of these in almost any dish make whatever you’re cooking smell amazing.

Unpopular -slash-borderline-psychopatic opinion: there should be onion grilled in butter scented candles on the market.

I would buy it in a heartbeat. I’ve seen garlic bread candles on Etsy after all!

That’s sugar. No. Really. Sugar straight up caused the slave trade to explode in the 1500s and 1600s. Later, Hitler turned it into Zycklon - B.

Interesting perspective, and a valid candidate for worst food, for a lot more reasons than the slave trade (although that’s a good one).

I remember reading an article about two dentists who studied old European paintings, and they could pinpoint the year that sugar hit the European continent, because suddenly the dental problems in painting subjects dramatically increased. It was clear that the introduction of sugar devastated the mouths of Europeans.

And of course there is sugar’s massive contribution to obesity, which is my personal dragon to slay.

    Literally that.

Growing up, I always loved going to Grandma’s house because it always smelled so good because she was always cooking something. Later in life, I realized it was just a faint onion smell because she put them in everything.

I have an old Irish Canadian friend who said that their mother ate a raw onion every night before she went to bed. At it like an apple as a late night snack. The old woman went on to live to a hundred years of age with a completely sharp and aware mind.
